If Amen develop a jump shot, he will be in all nba 3rd team
this can't be a serious thread.
If Amen develop a jump shot, he will be in all nba 3rd team
If Amen develops a jump shot he'll be All NBA First Team every year
Legit Dilemma: Use My Car or Take the Neighbor's Car
Amen with 20 pts 13 rebs 10 asts triple double against the best team Cleveland now.
would need to throw in four 1st round pick + Sochan for him
Amen's median outcome right now with even average development is basically a bigger slightly better Iguodala. In fact, he's more impactful than Iguodala at the same age already with no jumper. If he shoots even league average from 3 I don't even know who the comp would be. Scottie Pippen or something.
I'm trying to think who Houston would actually trade Amen for at this point. The list looks something like this:
Wemby
SGA
Luka
Tatum
Jokic
probably Giannis
Healthy and motivated Zion with no weight issues
I honestly do not think they trade Amen for Ant at this point

Man, Houston has far outdone the Spurs with team building. Add the Haliburton vs Vassell debacle and the only real prize we've gotten is Wemby. uva prize, granted, and worth. But doesn't bode well for our future team building.
I think from a young core standpoint, it's closer than you think. Basically what it comes down to is a massive up in the 2021 draft. Rockets took the guy we all wanted in Sengun and the Spurs, well, we all know what happened
Take away that, and it's
Wemby, Vassell, Sochan, Castle
vs
Amen, Tari, Jalen Green, Reed Sheppard, Cam Whitmore, Jabari Smith
I'm not very high on Whitmore at all. Tari vs Sochan is about even considering the age gap. Green's playing better than Vassell but I think all told it's about even. Sheppard and Castle are rookies but so far it looks like Castle's got more promise. Smith looks kind of average for a top 3 pick.
Spurs busted on Branham and Wesley, but the Rockets also busted on 1st round guys like Garuba, Josh Christopher, and TyTy Washington
Houston basically just chose to get good quicker and Spurs for some reason want to slow play it.
EDIT:
Oh yeah, and Zach Collins. Zach Collins.
EDIT2:
Jesus Christ I just looked at the 2021 draft again. Cade, Mobley, Barnes, Franz, Sengun, Trey Murphy, Jalen Johnson as potential star level players. Green, Kuminga, Suggs, Kispert, Grimes, Cam Thomas, Day'Ron Sharpe, Aldama as useful players. Literally half the players in the first round ended up being useful and we picked Josh ing Primo in the lottery - a 6'4" guard with 0.6 AST:TO, 6.5 AST%, 1.3 STL%, and 54% eFG%, and 3 dunks on the year. Doesn't pass the analytics test. Doesn't pass the eye test. To this day I still wonder what the rationale was.

How does Castle compare with Amen?
Castle will be an allstar if his jumper comes along. Amen will win MVPs if his does.
Apply the same logic with Castle...
I would not trade Castle for Amen, it's insane to even think about it smh
An allstar? More like he'll be allowed to stay in the NBA.
I didn't want to come into this thread, but as you said, WTF are people thinking? There is no dilemna. No chance the Rockets would trade Amen to us for any of the players the Spurs would be willing to trade.
I haven't really watched him play that much. Is he really that good in all other areas of the game (apart from shooting)? I never would have thought he'd be a number one option on a le team even with a jump shot.
He's an absolute monster defender with PG skills and unreal athleticism. Feels like the sky is the limit for the guy's potential.
I paid closer attention to Amen when Sean started talking him up. Sean's about 90% on his takes of other team's players, though obviously, super homer when it comes to the Spurs.
I agree he's got the potential to be a perennial AS. I dunno about a #1, but man, would he be the #2 we're dreaming of.
Castle can at most guard 1 to 3
Amen can guard 1 to 4 and some 5. He is also taller and is a better rebounder and shot blocker than Castle will ever be.

The rationale for Primo is that he is a mature kid and high character guy. That is the Spurs way. That is who we are (per Pop)![]()
If you can get Amen for Castle (which would obviously never happen) you jump on that deal and never look back
cant shoot, but such an insane athlete that playing off of him is becoming a non-option
Wait, was this supposed to be a serious thread or a joke thread?
Sometimes I wonder how often these types of threads pop up on other message boards. Like if you ever see something on Clutchfans led "Legit dilemma: Would trade Sengun for Victor Wembanyama?" which is still somehow not as ridiculous a question as this.
