It's fascism. Simply, basic, fascism. There's no real hierarchy in fascism, which is exactly what these orders imply. Only if the Supreme Leader or his inner circle recognize it does it exist as law.
there's a fuhrerprinzip involved for sure. it feels like we're not that far from Trump being declared the embodiment of the law and ruling by decree

Nah, it's because he still had s in his pocket. This time, President Trump is all out of s to give.

Wouldn't it be something if California turned red. The man walked into the devastated den of liberal, leftist, progressive Los Angeles and knocked the State (Newsome) and local (Bass) governments off high center. It's been a thing of beauty watching the Current President do, in a week, what Joe Biden wouldn't do in 4 years. , after waiting 4 months, the Army Corps of Engineers hit the ground running in North Caroline, Virginia, and Tennessee.

We haven't had a President this pro-American since James Monroe.

President Vance from 2028 to 2036. Republican Supermajorities in both houses of Congress, beginning in 2026.
    Eh

60 Senators is on the table in the next 6 years or so if the GOP finally gets its together for the first time since forever, but we aren't getting that in 2026. We may flip Georgia and Michigan with competent candidates like Kemp and McClain but that's it. Even Sununu and Youngkin running in their states wouldn't be guaranteed flips considering those are lean blue states.

I think the long term outlook is pretty bright in the Senate if we stop running horrendous candidates like Sam Brown, Kari Lake, Hershel Walker and Dr. Oz. We should definitely win back one or both of each of the 4 Democrat-occupied seats in Arizona and Nevada (but none of those are up again until 2028), win at least one back in Michigan and at least one in Georgia. Beyond that it will be tough because Fetterman and Slotkin are playing the fake moderate game and Murkuntski is still a rino that we'll have to jump through hoops to replace. Tammy Baldwin is a diehard progressive but Wisconsin seems to be the most worrisome swing state for the GOP along with Georgia, as in bent firebrand Ron Johnson barely survived re-election as an in bent against an atrocious, far-left opponent with Black Nationalist ties in 2022. Wisconsin is weird.

As far as the House goes it will be tough to get 67% or even 60% again for either side. Perhaps after the GOP gains seats after the 2030 census, things will be looking up there. Redistricting gerrymandering has gotten polarizing on both sides but in Texas the GOP was unnecessarily scared and put up a very defensive map. Meanwhile the Illinois Dems absolutely gerrymandered that state to all and it can't be fought over in court because none of those were "woke DEI" districts. I do think SCOTUS will overturn section 2 of VRA pertaining to congress seats some point this year meaning Alabama will be able to draw out one or both blue DEI seats and Louisiana will re-draw out the one DEI district the marxist court forced them to last year. If Georgia had any balls then GA-02 is easily removable as well. The House in 2026 in general is going to be a tight squeeze because you lost 4 seats each in NY and California and you basically have must-hold seats in Colorado's 8th (north of Denver), two NE Pennsylvania freshman reps, NE-02 (Bacon), two seats in AZ and a couple more here and there. They will have flip opportunities like MI-08 but OH-09 has proven tough and stubborn, maybe Ohio can redraw that map in our favor again hopefully. Utah Dems are pushing hard to get a blue seat in Salt Lake City. We'll just have to wait and see.

"If really don't care, Margaret." I think if the American people want more of what this administration is delivering, they'll put conservatives in office. Period.
Yet it remains a divided country. Sure TDS is at its weakest point since before mid 2015, but it'll come back with a vengeance at some point late this year or next, like the Bush-bashing post Katrina.

there's a fuhrerprinzip involved for sure. it feels like we're not that far from Trump being declared the embodiment of the law and ruling by decree
I'd love to see that. Always loved the idea of a benevolent king and/or emperor. Voting is stupid.

metadata shows original authors of the OMB and OPM memos are not the officers on the masthead, but Project 2025 figures

which isn't illegal, it merely raises another another Trump lie, which isn't illegal either

Trump is going to trash the NLRB. He's carrying water for his new billionaire buddies.

Looks like their donations to Trump and their sacks of inaugural cash are having the intended effect.

Hearing from reliable sources that Trump has fired Democratic NLRB member Gwynne Wilcox, an unprecedented move that could bring cases filed by SpaceX, Amazon challenging NLRB cons utionality to SCOTUSBoard members are shielded from presidential removal so this appears illegal
Confirmed from NLRB member Wilcox who was removed by Trump: "I will be pursuing all legal avenues to challenge my removal, which violates long-standing Supreme Court precedent.”

With this impoundment crisis, trump is claiming the right to nullify any spending that doesn't jibe with his policy aims and daring SCOTUS to neuter its own authority in deference to him.

One could say "imagine Biden or Obama had done this" --but that's an absurdity. Biden and Obama wouldn't have done it.

Apparently, evil Republican dip s will wreck a 250 year old republic to get their way.

others have pointed this out, but a vague, 2 page memo written by a political hack to shut down most of the US government is calculated to spread confusion and fear in the government

the millions of people who will be directly hurt by the pause are just a bonus for sadistic Republican dip s

Trump pauses ALL federal grants, loans and other assistance, leaked memo reveals
By KATELYN CARALLE, SENIOR U.S. POLITICAL REPORTER IN WASHINGTON, D.C. and NATASHA ANDERSON
    Published: 05:56 EST, 28 January 2025 | Updated: 09:59 EST, 28 January 2025

President Donald Trump is now using the power of the purse to bring diversity, equity and inclusion programs in the federal government to a screeching halt.

The White House budget office ordered federal agencies to freeze 'all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance,' which includes grants and loans that do not align with the new administration's priorities.

This is not meant to target any 'assistance provided directly to individuals,' such as Medicare or Social Security.

Rather, the leaked memo from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) details how agencies must now pause all more widely distributed federal grants, loans and financial assistance programs.

In the interim the agencies are tasked with identifying which one Trump would want to slash based on his slew of executive orders signed in his first week back in the Oval Office.

The actions would bring the budget into alignment with the president's push to end the government advancement of 'wokeness,' transgenderism, environmentalism and 'Marxist equity' or so-called diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.

The memo did not exempt disaster aid to areas like Los Angeles and western North Carolina that have been devastated by natural disasters. Trump pledged government support when he visited both places last week.

"What happened last night is the most direct assault on the authority of Congress, I believe, in the history of the United States. It is blatantly uncons utional," Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) says of Trump's OMB halting all federal grants.

"If this stands, then Congress may as well adjourn."

Tom Cole isn't a lawyer, but apparently he can't suss out the plain meaning of the cons ution he swore to uphold. Doesn't even know what an appropriation is.
