This is a paywalled article at Wired. But it makes a pretty good case that the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is now basically being run at its highest levels by people installed by and working with Elon Musk. In other words, “DOGE” seems to be calling the shots at OPM, even though it’s run by people who aren’t even federal employees. Most of these people appear to come from Musk’s various companies. Wired declined to publish the names of two of the people because of their age. One graduated from high school last summer.https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/huma...ce/ar-AA1y1LiPSome of this is already known. The nominee to run the agency, Scott Kupor, is a partner at the Andreessen/Horowitz VC firm. They’re aligned with Musk politically. So that’s consistent with the rest of the story. But it seems the upper echelons of the agency has already been stocked with a mix of Musk’s people and Republican operatives, notwithstanding the fact that this is a federal agency which is usually made up almost entirely of career staff.

What an instant cluster .
20% of Americans are currently on Medicaid
Medicaid is quite popular across the political spectrum
https://www.kff.org/medicaid/poll-fi...n-on-medicaid/The January 2025 KFF Health Tracking Poll found three-fourths of the public say they have an either “very favorable” (37%) or “somewhat favorable” (40%) view of the program, while one-quarter say they have an unfavorable view. A majority of Democrats (87%), independents (81%), and Republicans (63%) view the program favorably. The share who view the law favorably has remained stable since when the question was first asked in 2017.
her emails, though
building an email server for government-wide communication has obvious security implications
the communication system will be needed for mass firings and direct, top down intimidation of federal workers by the boss.
Russ Vaught has promised to make federal workers' lives , this is one way to do it.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/othe...ee/ar-AA1y3kZMThe lawsuit alleges that OPM has not conducted a Privacy Impact Assessment "for this unknown email server or any system which collects or maintains Personally Identifiable Information ('PII') obtained from its use." It also says that OPM has not ensured a review of a PIA by a chief information officer or equivalent official and that it has also not published an assessment or made it available for public review.
"OPM's failure to take these steps cons utes agency action unlawfully withheld or unreasonably delayed in violation of 5 U.S.C. § 706(1)," the lawsuit says.
"Plaintiffs are being materially harmed by this inaction because they are being denied information about how these systems—which will be rich in PII about every employee of the U.S. Executive Branch—are being designed and used."
We're finally dismantling the federal government! Sure hope it doesn't serve essential functions that I've taken for granted mywhole life

"....President Donald Trump's administration is offering federal workers the chance to take a "deferred resignation," which would mean they agree now to resign but get paid through September.
A senior administration official told NBC News that they expect 5%-10% of the federal workforce to quit, which, they estimate, could lead to around $100 billion in savings....
...Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who is now in charge of Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency, famously sent a similar email to employees shortly after he took over Twitter, which he renamed X, asking them to opt in to keep working at the company.
White House officials wouldn't say whether he was involved in the current effort. But the subject line of the email that will be sent to federal workers is: "Fork in the Road."
It's the same subject line Musk used in that email to Twitter employees. And Musk now has a post pinned on X of an art piece he commissioned called "A Fork in the Road."...."
