Fox is as good as a fit that you could ask for. The only downside is that his 3-point percentage should be 3-4% higher. That's it. And it might even go up playing next to Wemby.

Objectively
I don’t blame the Spurs if they want to wait until summer and see how the lottery shakes out. Wemby/Flagg/Fox would be god like in three years.

Discussion on the fit with Wemby
The speed of Fox would be awesome to see on a spurs court with wemby, Castle, and Sochan
This is a two hour Pod, but the first 30 minutes are mostly Fox-> Spurs but they get into a lot of Fox in general and other competing possibilities.
And here is a fun reddit thread on the Kings sub on all the trades Monte McNair has made in SAC: https://www.reddit.com/r/kings/comme...ing_up_i_went/
You think some of us are hard on PATFO? SAC fans (justifiably) almost universally hate their FO![]()
It's on KENS which I have no clue what that channel is on Directv. Seems I remember a game on KENS being on 51 KBVO before, but it isn't listed. I did see it on ROKU at 7:30..I might try that if it isn't on cable.
Per Vecenie Podcast: Fox is 3rd in the league in efficiency on scoring off ball-screens. Only Brunson and Garland ahead of him.
Spurs are also a bottom 5 driving team. Fox would open up all kind of lanes. Our offense would be virtually unstoppable. You can break out all the old Tony Parker sets for him.
Btw I don't think people understand that he's a pretty good defender for a PG.
You were good until you added Sochan.
thanks…
maybe kbvo listings are inaccurate…ill tune in at gametime on both 51 and the ballys to see if one is airing it
It's definitely on ROKU but you have to subscribe to Paramount +. You can get free trial and then drop it. I subscribe to Paramount+ through Amazon Prime and saw 'KENS on Paramount+' on there. Will try that if it's not on cable. I never watch the games that way, but might start tonight. Good luck.
Also from Vecenie podcast: "San Antonio is the spot Fox wants to get to, this has not been a secret in league circles for awhile, frankly. If you talk to people around the league, San Antonio would always come up as a De'Aaron Fox landing spot. I've been saying for the last 6 months, Klutch has been trying to get a point guard to San Antonio to pair with Wemby."
Also Vecenie: "Castle is the guy from this class who I believe in most from this class, but not because he's a point guard. It's because it's because he's a problem solving wing who will be an awesome defender and will continue to develop as a shooter and just makes all these awesome winning plays, all the time." Sam then goes into all of the Wowy Combination stats of Castle + other PGs/without, things I've posted about here in the past.
Basically, Sam sees it the way I do: Castle is not the Spurs point guard of the future. He's the Spurs secondary ball handler of the future who you will always want with a point guard, long term.
Sam would move Sochan in the deal to get Fox.
Id move Sochan in that trade too...in half a heartbeat...he won't fit with Fox and Castle
I like when the media thinks like us.
Also, can we put to death the narrative Klutch hates us.
I kind of like the idea of Sochan as a bench guy, but IDK how he'll adapt to that role and if the contract extension that fits with that role will be acceptable to him, so I wouldn't mind moving him too.
I calculated that we could have $53MM of cap room in the Summer of 2026 if we traded Vassell for Fox, moved off Keldon, picked one FRP in the top 10 in each of the next two drafts, and extended Jeremy at $20MM/year. If we could move him and maybe pickup someone with 1 year left on their deal, then we would really be cooking in that Summer of 2026.
Vassell going out and Fox coming in really actually fits quite nicely with this Summer 2026 cap space plan, if that is folk's concern.
Yeah, Sensitive Redheaded Daywalking Spurs Fan thinks that everyone hates us. Klutch hates us, ESPN hates us, David Stern hated us, Adam Silver hates us... when in reality, it's probably more like:
Another tidbit... Jason Timpf basically says that if you said Spurs could get a Shai or another top 5 guy, then it's worth passing up on a guy like Fox, but the drop off between the 10-12th best player in the NBA is substantially smaller than the drop off between the Top 5 guys and the 10-12th best player. Basically how much better of a player can the Spurs reasonably get by waiting for someone else. I think this is also a good point... some folks like to say that "Fox isn't even that good... Luka is a FA in 2026", but Luka isn't going to actually be a FA. Passing up Fox to wait for Luka is like passing up a job that pays you $500k/yr because you're holding out for Apple to call you and offer you the CEO position.
Anyone waiting for Luka in 2026 is a dumbass and is kidding themselves. It's not happening. Fox is our best bet and I'm confident he's going to be a Spur tbh. Just a matter of what we're losing in the process.
Castle is Derrick White ish
