Give the kid a break, he has allergies.
I saw the trainer rubbing something on the side of Wemby's nose during a timeout.

The way Wemby plays recently, its like we only have a center on the defensive end only.

On offense Wemby has been playing a guard and is way too far from the basket which is why we are getting killed on offensive boards. If he wants to play like that we NEED a large athletic PF/center to play with Wemby. Preferably one that has the opposite mindset to Wemby, a rebounding pf/center that can guard the parameter on defense and stay in the paint on offense.

    We’re so spoiled.

We basically have a turbocharged prime Gobert on defense AND a top-14 in the NBA point getter who shows flashes of early Durant. It’s crazy to think that that can be sustained for a season.

Basically, the boy needs help. This trade helps a lot on that front, players just need time to gel.

The Spurs were late to adopt to big wings playing the four when the league shifted to that and as more bigs have been indoctrinated into this era and the league has shifted back to more two big lineups, they're late again to adjust or adapt.

Barnes guarding 4's is fine a lot of the time (he's more suited to guarding up anyway), but not when he's the lone forward and especially not when starting two small or smallish guards.

that's exactly what Sochan does. Perimeter defender who plays like a center on offense.

Thoughts on Wembanyama’s recent play? As as much as we lay into this roster deficiencies, him dropping off from Top 5-7 All-NBA player level in Nov-Dec to a mere All Star Top 12-15 guy in the most challenging part of their schedule essentially extinguished their play-in hopes before help even comes into effect (Fox).

I am afraid –and I hope to be resoundly wrong on this—that Wemby may fall in your category of franchise players/superstars who are not consistent or efficient enough to be the hub of the offense without a lead guard or another star big/forwarrd assuming that closer role. Most of those types attracted soft label across the years (Robinson, Garnett, Bosh, A. Davis etc..). And I’m not gonna lie I am seeing some disconcerting signs about his style of play in that regard (doesn’t contest rebounds hard enough, afraid of contact whether in his laughably weak screens or attacking small defenders etc. See me venting in the "lazy & soft" thread )

I thought initially it was regression to the mean, but the reality is he's going to continue to be an erratic offensive player with his style of play and lack of bankable, consistent/efficient way to score.

Hard to disagree with a lot of this. I'm not nearly as down as him as some, but my one concern always was that he's more the names you mentioned than Olajuwon, O'Neal, Duncan, Jokic, etc. No matter how much the game has evolved, it's tough for a big to be the hub of a championship level offense without a game rooted in strength, being able to bring two to the ball from it and forcing rotations.

Good to read some common sense...

I don't get how so many posters who've been watching NBA for so long can come up with so many horrible definitive takes on Wemby tbh

Beyond the lack of help and ridiculous load he had to carry up until now, has anyone of u wondered what it is to move a 7'5 body? Have u all forgot the effect of gravity?

All those comp I hear of Wemby being like an adult playing vs kids is so stupid bc of the efforts it requires for him to move, change direction etc

It's a basic yin/yang thing, no human has it all, whatever your advantages are, they'll also be your handicaps. Wemby will get better but will always struggle in the same areas we see him struggling today, his waist isn't gonna widen suddenly and his morphotype isn't going to change miraculously.

Tbh I'm a little bit worried compared to last season post ASG, Biyombo isn't gonna be the diff maker and Mitch has gone away from the offense centered around Wemby to a more socialist basketball where everyone gets to shoot 15 times smh

It can get ugly quick bc Wemby is going to spend a lot of energy with the ASG

It was probably Vaporub. Spurs poverty franchise can’t afford an allergist so they’re resorting to southside abuela remedies

He did suck at certain points. Especially recently

And I do remember him gasping for air at the allstar game

I even thought to myself. Weird, why is he so tired?

I believe he was developing this issue for weeks if not months

    Get well soon Wemby

I think his ability to carry average/mediocre teams has definitely been overstated. He is simply not ready yet. Not on sop re Doncic level for example.
