Thoughts on Wembanyama’s recent play? As as much as we lay into this roster deficiencies, him dropping off from Top 5-7 All-NBA player level in Nov-Dec to a mere All Star Top 12-15 guy in the most challenging part of their schedule essentially extinguished their play-in hopes before help even comes into effect (Fox).
I am afraid –and I hope to be resoundly wrong on this—that Wemby may fall in your category of franchise players/superstars who are not consistent or efficient enough to be the hub of the offense without a lead guard or another star big/forwarrd assuming that closer role. Most of those types attracted soft label across the years (Robinson, Garnett, Bosh, A. Davis etc..). And I’m not gonna lie I am seeing some disconcerting signs about his style of play in that regard (doesn’t contest rebounds hard enough, afraid of contact whether in his laughably weak screens or attacking small defenders etc. See me venting in the "lazy & soft" thread
