IMSO Splitter is overrated.
hes a good player overseas yeah but hes a defensive center.

The bigs are being adressed with Mahinmi, Butler, and others on the roster.
Go for a Byars, Dudley, or Dowdell or Pruitt.
A G/F with a guaranteed contract at #28, with Finley coming back....that might spell the end for James White.
Unless White has a stellar camp/summer league, he'd likely be the odd man out in that scenario.
If he happened to have that great summer league though, Barry trade rumors would pop up everywhere...
I will say that ever since D-rob, the quality of the big men beside Tim has been dissapointing (excepting possibly Horry and Oberto in the playoffs. Even then, though, a better 2nd big would be welcome). I would add one name to your list - Josh McRoberts, if he were to fall to 28, would be a prime choice.I thought about it and just none of them sound useful for this team
Really, the Spurs have Duncan, Oberto*, Elson, Horry, Bonner*, Butler, Scola* and Mahinmi*. That's up to eight bigmen who could be on the roster next year. And with either Butler or Mahinmi (or both) on the roster next season, there really isn't a need for a big.
Perhaps Fazekas if the Spurs view him better than Bonner but I don't know how much an international big would help this team anytime soon. Even if Splitter drops to 28, that pick wouldn't excite me ... much less Fesenko, Stanko or any other anko's the Spurs can find.
Byars was great last year, but he still scares me a bit because he had not done that much until last year. He transferred from UVA because he was going to lose time to Gary Forbes - who has since also transferred from UVA...
He's a decent, but not great shooter. He has decent, but not great quickness. He was a good, but not great defender. He's a below average rebounder, and he turns the ball over. On the plus side, he finds a way to score and he is a very very good passer for a wing.
Personally, I much prefer Dudley over him. But I think it's a crapshoot by anybody's ratings over which one will be the superior player.

They bring a lot of the same skills to the table. Byars has a little more range and has the ability - although it's still pretty inconsistent - to create his own shot. He might be slightly better defensively on the perimeter as well. Dudley is a better post defender, a more consistent player, and a significantly better rebounder.
I can see the argument for both (although certainly not for 5 ">"s), just a personal preference.
Byars has a more all-around and versatile game. Versatility is very important in this league right now. Also, I think Dudley's lack of athleticism really hurts him. But, in the end, I'd gladly take both players. I'm just more sold on Byars.
I could certainly live with either one.
So what future first round picks do we have left in the chest?
