Sure Jan...and you too..
People telling people to relax or “to take a step back” are normally the ones up in their ivory tower while the chaos ensues down below. It’s very easy to say such things, and think nothing’s going on. Meanwhile, when it was a time when these same people were experiencing “chaos” of their own, it was due to them being inconvenienced by a restroom policy or using a few words that they didn’t like.
Compare that with people’s lives actually being ruined.
God forbid we all want to be treated equally. But these people would take a society where hate is spewed vs one that shakes their beliefs to treat everyone with respect. They would easily believe the lie that their taxes will be less when they’re still paying the same amount even after the government “eliminated the waste”. Gullible, gullible people.
Sure Jan...and you too..
We don't push people to Trump, they go running to him because of hatred of trans, gay, and brown people.
Right wing Trump bootlickers are the worst people. Imagine thinking you’re somehow superior to others simply because your dad ed inside your mom within the correct borders.
Maga has truly destroyed reasonable conservative values.

Some...but not all... and in elections that are razor close that makes the difference from a practical perspective..
That i agree with..
The damage from this flooding is horrible and tragic. Putting aside the horror of losing loved ones, just having your house flooded and your possessions ruined is a huge emotional toll. Instead of pointing fingers at the people you think should "do something about it", just donate and do your part. Soon volunteers will be able to go to Kerrville and help people remove sheet rock and clean up debris. Rather than waiting for the government or the Spurs to do it, show up and do it yourself. That is much more productive than bickering on Spurs talk. I would much rather read the 1,000,000th trade Vassell and Keldon post. If you want to volunteer your time, here is the the City's facebook page where they will let volunteers know when it is safe to go and start helping. https://www.facebook.com/KerrvilleTX.
My two cents for what it’s worth:
Texas should have and could have worked more diligently on an early warning system for these issues but failed to do so. That is on them and they’ll have to answer for that. This is similar to the ergon debacle during snowpocalypse when they realized their lack of infrastructure investment was a mistake that cost lives.
Response is a state issue, not a federal one. FEMA is more of an organizing unit, not a full scale response unit. Those of you blaming FEMA really have no idea of their role. They provide coordination efforts, consolidation of leadership through the ICS system, technical advisement, training, and have a very limited response capability. They have never been designed to be a full scale response group. They help in the state EOC’s to provide coordination efforts, develop mutual aid agreements between states, provide funding under the stafford act, and have their VALs coordinate with the NPO’s. Now maybe you want their role to expand, but that’s not the issue here. Even if FEMA had all the money in the reserves it wouldn’t have changed what happened since the warning system and response were state issues and the storm came without warning which meant there could be no federal declaration until the damage was done (FEMA cannot go into any situation without a federal declaration which comes from the president after the governor has requested it with the notable exception being with congressional approval to override the governor).
There is a very real chance that the Spurs have given and are just not putting it out there. During Hurricane Ida response the saints provided $250k to the NPO I worked for and no one ever heard about it. Their lack of a media release is not evidence of a lack of response.
We do need to discuss politics, no doubt. There should be a period, however, to allow people to process a collective trauma. Some people process through rage, others through mourning, and some through action. No one way is correct or incorrect. Have some grace for others because they’re all processing the way they know how.
Blessings to all of you.
Everyone should be required to donate to these relief efforts. They should make it so that it's based on a % of your pay and withhold a little each check. Or maybe it's a % of the value of your home, and you include it each month with your mortgage. And then there is just this giant fund collecting all of these relief funds in advance. Maybe some kind of centralized body could be charged with caring for these funds and then dispersing them as needed when disaster strikes, since coordination would be more helpful than people just donating to a bunch of various organizations which may not may not be all that effective.
I might write my congressman about this idea.
any money the spurs spend on flood welfare could go to making better quality sochan shooting film packages
When everyone else is making a quick statement about their donations, I'd argue that it's a little self-righteous on SS&E's part to go this route. And that's assuming that they've donated. None of us actually know if they have.

Since this is very important for you to know, have you contacted the Spurs about it?
More importantly, has OP publicly posted how much they are contributing?
are you mad at spurs plyers or ownership?
NBA announced that they, the NBPA, Spurs, Mavs, and Rockets will collectively donate more than 2M
can you put my name on the card too?
Texas has a literal "rainy day fund" that probably won't be touched while Abbott begs for the national social safety net to save us.
Just saw that the Spurs, Mavericks, and Rockets contributed towards a $2 million donation to help those impacted from the floods.
Yeah, just saw this too.
Det raindy day fund is long gone to their bank accounts tbh.
I was going to say that rainy day slush fund is long gone to their corporate overlords.
Sometimes life provides irony that even art cannot touch
Same thing imo.
I think a little less than $2B of it was spent from it after Hurricane Harvey. Most of the time it's used as a fig leaf to cover up the lege's failures to fund the state's obligations.
But hey, at least the Lege spends every session on Property Tax reform, right? Amazing how they've spent the last couple of decades "reforming" the reforms they just enacted two years prior.
