everything the Nazis did was legal when they did it
ICE is enforcing laws that have been on the books for at least the last 6 or 7 presidencies. It's been illegal to enter this country and squat for quite a long time. My question is why haven't any of these aliens afforded themselves the opportunity to legalize their residency? The most heart-breaking stories are of people who have been here decades that, knowing they were here illegally, never tried to make their living here legal. Through Democrat and Republican administrations -- nothing.

there will be a reckoning for the obscene inhumanity and lawlessness of enforcement
You know who isn't having confrontations with Immigration and Customs Enforcement? The approximately 1.5 million that have voluntarily self-deported.

If the Democrats and Sanctuary City advocates had been smart, they would have assisted ICE in identifying, locating, and arresting the most violent criminals. This was the initial objective of ICE - to locate, arrest, and deport the criminal element first but, no, Democrats wanted to protect them all! Made no sense to me. So, with the most criminal element running to Sanctuary Cities for cover, ICE and DHS had no choice but to go in and do the jobs themselves. I also don't blame them for concealing their iden ies. With AG's like that Jay yahoo character and all the organized resistance just biting at the bit to visit violence on federal officers simply doing their jobs, who could blame the from trying to protect themselves and their families.

From having margaritas with violent criminals in foreign jails to protecting violent criminals in their Sanctuary Cities, Democrats have brought this on themselves and all illegal aliens.

    I'm here for it.

If their here illegally, they're criminals.

many are fully compliant with immigration law and get deported anyway
Define fully compliant. Fully compliant according to Democratic leniency practices started by Biden? Or, compliant according to federal immigration law?

    Chicago Tribune: it's state terrorism

    You know us.

For years, you watched and listened to our coverage of the Chicago area. As journalists, we did our best to bring you accurate, objective information about the people, events and issues that mattered. We hope we gained your trust.

So please trust us now when we say that what is happening in the Chicago area is wrong. The fact that some federal immigration forces may be leaving soon is cold comfort given the damage they’ve done and what they may do in other cities.

We are retired, but our colleagues who are still on the job have shown you a brutal and illegal campaign against fellow Chicagoans, mainly Latinos: violent abductions, gutting families, using tear gas around children, roughing up witnesses, ramming cars and even taking a day care teacher from her school.

Let us be clear: We support the lawful apprehension and deportation of undo ented immigrants with criminal records. The president says he’s after the worst of the worst, but that’s not what’s happening. It’s gone way beyond that. People are presumed guilty until proven innocent. It is not law enforcement; it is terror.

This dragnet seems to be based on racism and is snaring citizens of color, do ented immigrants and people who have committed no serious crimes — your neighbor, friend, co-worker, babysitter and landscaper. People whose work ethic and honesty have contributed to the city for years.

A federal agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement points a weapon to keep the crowd back while agents briefly detained and then released a woman pulled from her car along West 26th Street on Nov. 8, 2025, in Cicero. (Brian Cassella/Chicago Tribune)

If you believe in due process and the rule of law, you are likely to be alarmed. If you are a person of faith or believe in the unity of family, you are likely to be appalled.

None of us can do everything, but we all can do something. We urge you to support groups fighting for due process or who help immigrants during this siege. News organizations also need our financial support to continue their vital reporting.

We covered this city for a living and love it, and we want you to know that what’s happening here is not normal. It’s eroding all of our rights and should be a warning to other cities that find themselves enveloped in an ICE storm.

He's doing the job 77 million American elected him to do. Securing the border and deporting as many illegal aliens as he can find. If they're here illegally, they're not American so, we can start with that fallacy.

You elected Trump to make a secret police force that can disappear US citizens without cause.

    You're a fascist.

Well, the country belongs to the rest of us too; we live in it.

Y'all are ing up cities, communities and families. The immoral and unlawful dimensions of current immigration enforcement inflict real agony and pain on the American people.

No. Not being disappeared for days and weeks at a time by secret police.

Why are you pretending this is normal?

Why do you want secret police to be able to disappear you without cause?

I don't see it that way. Crime is down in cities where Trump has intervened. Hundreds, if not thousands, of violent criminal illegal aliens have been removed from the streets and either imprisoned or deported. I think cities are being cleaned up and relieved of criminal elements.

Employing the force necessary to effect an arrest is legal. If Democrats would stop organizing to attempt to frustrate the legal efforts of federal law enforcement, I doubt their would be any aggression.

    nice dodge

administrative detention hasn't been normal for US citizens for 100 years

starting around 1917 we rounded up a bunch of Germans -- about 8% of the total German population in the US by the war's end

most were aliens, but many innocent people were swept up in the hysteria

You go where it's needed. Conservatively controlled cities haven't set themselves up to be sanctuaries for illegal aliens or criminals and they certainly don't attract the kinds of crowds that assemble in pussy hats and obstruct law enforcement.

    the majority aren't criminals
Again, if they're in the country illegally, they're criminals. Democrats would have been smart to heed Homan's warning, early on, help with the capture and deportation of the violent criminal illegal aliens and none of this would have been necessary. Those living peacefully would have been the last to have been arrested and deported but, since ICE and DHS have to muscle their way into American cities, resisting their efforts to enforce the law, anyone found to be in violation is subject to arrest and deportation.

He said it, over and over and over again.

when jackbooted terror comes, Yoni licks the boot
I voted for the border to be closed and for all illegal aliens to be deported - among other things. You can call that licking the boot. I call it fulfilling a campaign promise being fulfilled. If anything, Trump is licking mine and 77 million others' boots by doing what we elected him to do.

Trump asked for a record number of foreign workers for himself last year.

    You vote for that?
