    never cared for their music..

    more of a stones guy.
I prefer the Stones as well, but I can appreciate and enjoy some Beatles stuff. I don't think they are the be-all end-all of music because they influenced more pop. The Stones represented rock and roll and I think over time the Beatles image was thought to be more about rock than what it actually was. The Beatles were a great band if you are in to pop music, but I'm more of a rocker through the core so I side with the Stones- though I don't even know why they are compared to eachother.

I think they are compared only because both were British and happening at the same time. But that's about as far as it goes. They took different directions early with the Beatles being more lyric driven and the Stones just wanting to rock old rhythm and blues. That being said I think they were all just mediocre musicians at best.

All of them being the Beatles and the Stones collectively? I disagree.

Yesterday is my favorite although I am also big on In My Life, Revolution and Get by with a little help from my friends and While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Speaking of that last song, has anyone heard the Clapton/McCartney version on the George Harrison tribute album? Awesome.

I wouldn't say they were mediocre musicians. They were able to musically express themselves in a way that made them great musicians.

Now, if you are talking about them being mediocre technical wise in their respective instruments, then I may agree.

Lennon hints at it in one of the last interviews he did

I think Paul and Ringo stand up with any of the rock musicians. Not technically great -- none of us are technical musicians. None of us could read music. None of us can write it. But as pure musicians, as inspired humans to make the noise, they are as good as anybody.

    Julia.

I named my daughter after that song.

It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life.

I'd also have to go with:

    Across The Universe
    In My Life
    Girl
    No Reply
    The Long and Winding Road
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
    A Day In The Life
    Happiness Is A Warm Gun

There are plenty more, but I just love these songs.

Yes I was referring to each individual's skill with their respective instruments. That combined with songwriting talents, creative vocal skills and the cult of personality made them all indisputably great.

I mean I don't even get how Abby Road became a classic cover shot and this one didn't. Look at the 2 side by side and it's obvious to anyone with eyes and taste which one is better. I was thinking it probably got over looked because it was from a single and not a full LP

To say that the Beatles were mediocre musicians is to expose how much you don't know about music.

    You couldn't be more wrong.

    The Boss wasn't barefoot.

    That was the problem.

    Love the flames, though.

there are two things about that cover that people don't even know 1)the flames are real and that The Boss isn't even bothered by standing in fire and 2) the flames represent the deal Bruce made with the devil to be able to write and preform such kick ass songs

    "Because" is another great song.

The harmonies in that song are Beach Boys-esque.
