I've ragged on D'Antoni for all of the weaknesses that have been enumerated before (doesnt develop his bench, not enough emphasis on defense) but he's a good coach, and his offense that he ran in the 7 seconds or less era has been good for the League. Those weaknesses are what prevented the Suns from winning a le.
You can criticize D'Antoni all you want from not doing this or that to win a le in Phoenix, but that's not really the point as it relates to the trainwreck that is the Knicks. They'll be more successful and they'll be more entertaining after he gets the personnel he wants. I think the NBA has really benefited from what D'Antoni and the Suns did, even if it was never going to result in a le.
Knicks don't care whether they win the championship or not. They just want to come back to respectability, sell tickets and generate more money. They don't want to be the laughingstock of the NBA anymore.
As a NYC resident, this makes me want to puke. We've suffered through years of Isaiah and now we get D'Antoni? You've got to be sh-tting me. I would've preferred Avery or Carlisle.

This is the best thing to happen to your team since... Wow, I'm having to think back. Patrick Ewing? See how good D'Antoni did in the west then realize you're in the east which sucks and I think you'll see you're sitting in good hands. Isaiaha? At least Magic Johnson knew he sucked at coaching and quit.
