    they are ok sometimes.

*waking up to noise from upstairs*

    *whispering* "You awake?"

    "uh huh...those damn noisy neighbors!"

    *rolling over and cuddling*

    *waiting appropriate amount of time*

"well...since we are both awake anyway, wanna have sex?"

next thing you know you have forgotten about the neighbors...

I have that problem in my neighborhood. Not so much my next-door neighbors -- the house next to me, the one caddy-corner from me, and the duplex across the street have been mostly restored, but are all still vacant. So that's nice.

My problem is with the cars that roll through at all hours of the day and night. They treat the street like it's Highway 90. Not only did one of them kill my dog last year (and didn't stop, I might add), but they like to roll through with their music (rap) turned as high as possible. When you can hear the words while sitting in your insulated house, with your TV on, then that's too loud. It's an audio "drive-by"!

And I'm not even necessarily opposed to loud music, despite my well-known feelings toward rap. If you like it, fine. As the great AC/DC once said, "rock 'n' roll ain't noise pollution." But at least show us the courtesy of asking your neighbors before cranking the hip-hop. But no, they don't care. Their at ude is, this is who I am, and if you don't like it, or if it offends you, TOUGH!
    I think it's rude.

I guess it's a symptom of the "look at me" thinking that's so pervasive with today's people. Well, I'm looking at you. If they want to spend lots of $$ tricking out their car with decals, advertise how big their rims are, all while still living in a FEMA trailer, then fine. But do show at least a little courtesy, man.

Back in tha summer when my boy lived in the townhouse with me, we would bump Mike Jones and Paul Wall at 3am and the old next door would bang on the wall. it was funny. also, once, she tried to be louder then us by turning on her radio on some classical real loud. all were good times.
Apparently no one ever taught you about things like "noise laws". Or even about living in society.

You pull like that on me, first time I ask you politely to "turn it down". If it continues I go John Westley Hardin on your azz.

New Orleans allegedly has a noise ordinance. I'll believe it when I see it enforced.

New Orleans East WAS the sticks when I came back!

But too many of the young kids, and their older brothers, think life is going to be a big rap video, full of $$ and women, never having to work. If that's how you view life, then fine (actually I pity you). And if you want to show off your wealth (not sure where you get the $$$ without a high school education), with your car (decals, sound system, rims) then okay.

But keep the music down, man! That's all I ask.

Someday, I swear that I will set up a kind of hunting blind with a small aperature on our street.

I will then get a big ass slingshot and some rocks, set up after dark on a weekend with a good audio book and some headphones, and I will wait.

Everytime some asshole comes cruising down our street with his ing rap music on loud enough to rattle the windows of our apartment, I will lauch a rock at the side of his car as hard as I can pull back that slingshot.

    OR

I will buy a supply of cement blocks and carve the following into them:

    "Turn your stereo down, asshole."

I will simply follow along to where they live, make a mental note, keep driving, and come back to drop that thing through their windshield.

Fantasy to be sure, but these thoughts keep me warm some nights.

I'm not an electrical engineer, so I don't have the know-how on how to make such a device ...

But, I'd want to make something that will send out an inaudible radio signal that jams car stereos. Something that would overwhelm the stereo's internal signals and make it, say, turn off and on over and over again. Or change its setting from CD to radio.

I'd mount it on the telephone pole on my lot (I have a corner yard) and send the signal out 4 ways -- to each of the 4 spots of the intersection where cars come through. I'd send the signal out about 50 yards.

Could such a device be built? Has it already been invented? They can jam cell phones, why not car boom-boxes, with speakers facing out?

I'd be looking for engineers, and investors.
