Jayem is probably the worst human being currently posting on these forums. He would be better served as a bandwagon "fan" of the Lakers.
I would agree but I think it was one of the reasons and probably the biggest. No one player wins or loses a series. In the Spurs le years, there were times in the playoffs where one or two of the big 3 were sputtering and someone else stepped up big. Maybe for a game or maybe two but enough to get the team through. That didn't happen in this series.

Or better yet driving off a cliff.
As with many on this board, I have probably seen Manu play 500 games. When he is not right physically it is very apparent. And, he was not right. Ankle, groin, finger, and general fatigue from carrying the team for a month earlier kept him from being his best. Throw in a defense designed to keep him bottled up....yes he had turnovers, but how many great passes to KT or Oberto or others that should have been assists that turned into fumbles, misses, etc. I believe Pop should have played him less or even sat him a game to try and get him back to 70-80% instead of the 50% he played at.
No 1 player wins, but Parker and Duncan did their part to a point. Had Ginobili, were talking about whos a better matchup, Boston or Detroit.
Manu should sit out the Olympics. If he doesn't Holt ought to crucify his ass.
I also agree
but to blame it all on him is wrong
however he was a main part of the problem
he was injured some and could not help with the rebounding
As someone else pointed out, Tim and Tony did their part. The one not delivering was Gino. I expected a lot more out of him and the rest of the team. I don't feel we went down swinging. I expected more fire out of these Spurs.
If the Spurs almost get swept now, what do you think will happen when Bynum comes back? Spurs are done unless they have a miraculous offseason.
If you watched the games in this series and say, the previous 500 games or so of his career, you would see that Manu was playing on one leg/ankle. The "I'm fine stuff" was for the media.
Skip Bayless is a idiot. Period. End of Story. Skip also is not a fan of the ladies if you know what I mean.
Doubtful either one happens unfortunately.
Yeah typical Spur, won't make excuses.
Through out the series.. how many times did you yell to yourself or the people around you, DAMNIT Ginobili!!
I understand what he has done for the Spurs franchise, and that he was less then 100%. But if you are going to hurt the team with stupid decisions and poor effort, sit down.
Let someone else play who will dive for a loose ball. How wil put zip on their pass.
He had a stellar game 3, but the only difference was he hit those 3 pointers. For the entire series he ROUTINELY made DUMB decisions and got beat on EFFORT plays.
I recorded the series and starting from GAME 1, Ginobili was bringing the Spurs down with his mistakes.
It's like someone reversed Manu. I've seen him win games sheerly on his will. But this WCF was strange, he was a Miasma. There are stretches of the game where he is the Lakers best player.
I seriously think someone kidnapped a relative or something, because it was consistenly playing boneheaded basketball.
Ankle injury fine, but that makes you throw the same slow lazy pass? Even on the last game he was still doing that.
Make adjustments man. Everyone knows when you work the pick and roll how you pass the ball, so don't ing throw it up for grabs. It's like he tossed it and didn't give a if he turned it over.
Pop gave him way too long of a leash. A compe or like Ginobili isn't going to pull himself out.
If Manu was 100% for the Faker series...Spurs win 4-1. Bayless and the Faker toads can yak all they want, but that is the fact. However, it didn't happen, so Celtics in 6. Fakers and Hornets get to celebrate their division and conference crowns respectively, but that is all they get.![]()
Agree with jayem. This forum pussifies Manu and over rates him. There always has to be a reason why Manu plays poorly. Mostly I hear he is too tired.
Reality is Manu is an inconsistent player with many ups and downs and in the Laker series he was on a down. Manu is just under the real all stars of the league and should be traded now while he still has value for a younger player with upside star potential. His value is likely to fall rapidly in the next year or two .
Manu was far more injured than he or anyone else in the Spurs organization cared to admit. When was the last time Manu went hard to the rack and dunked? The scoring was missed, but the assists, the rebounds, the steals- the numerous hustle plays, especially in crunch time- dude was nowhere close to the high level of play Spurs fans have come to expect. This could not be any more obvious. Did anyone really think that this Spurs team would win the championship with anything less than the big three playing their best? Playing well when it counts, staying healthy, sometimes being a little bit lucky...all necessary in making a championship run. It just did not happen for this year's Spurs. Bayless is a dip .
Really? Seriously, you are a grade A jackass.
Nah, Manu deserves his props.
He is one of the rare Wills that can take over a game when he is in the zone.
This hombre was born to play basketball.
It's just he doesn't seem to know how to adjust when he doesn't have it.
It's like a bird with a broken wing still trying to fly.
I never cringed so much in my life for Manu's sake this series.
It was getting to the point I was hoping the ball didn't go near him during crucial moments because it seems he was always making the wrong play.
EVERY time the spurs were just about to get over the hump, it seemed Manu would do something and the Lakers would get the momentum back. Every game except game 3.
It's uncanny. If you have such a High basketball, How do you make so many rookie type mistakes.
I mean the Spurs in general made too many mistakes to win that series, but so much stemmed from Manu and it trickled down.
Cuz Manu is the and you can't hold his jock.
This thread makes me nauseous.
Manu is the sixth man Not an all star..Say that to parker! He shouldve steped it up for us because hes the point guard..We expect more from him ..Not manu coming from the bench..Finley as well! .
