Common sense would say yes.
Either Bowen or Maggette could start at the 2 - but I'm guessing it would likely be Maggette. If Bowen were to start at the 2, Maggette would start at the 3 - so either way, he's in the starting lineup.
Common sense would say yes.
Yeah Maggette would start right away.
I can see though manu or Udoka coming in for Bowen first.
Maggette is gonna get heavy minutes, and try to lighten the load off of Bowen and Ginobili.
So they would be left trying to bring together scraps, while the Spurs reel in Maggette and Thomas.![]()
Where are people getting this idea that Bowen would start at the 2. I don't even think I have ever seen him play the 2 since he has been here. Jyust because hes matched up defensively on a 2 doesnt mean and a lineup starting Bowen and Udoka isnt going to score much at all.
http://deseretnews.com/article/1,514...2,00.html?pg=1Maggette "has told friends that he hoped the Magic would make him a compe ive offer, welcoming a return to Orlando."
Looks like Utah is interested too.
Damn, 42 pages of speculation in 2 days.![]()
He wants Orlando to be interested, but it seems they aren't.
At least, thats my poor reading comprehension tells me.
If the Spurs land Delfino (assuming the report that they've made him an offer is true), he could start at SG with Maggette at SF and Bowen coming off the bench like Posey did for the Celts. Delfino's probably a defensive upgrade over Finley, which would offset Maggette's inferiority to Bowen in that department. Bowen & Ginobili coming off the bench together would be pretty powerful.... speculation....
People read too much into the fact that he told his friends he wants Orlando to make a push for him. There has never really been anybody that has evidence that the Magic are actually interested. They seem like they're looking to resign their own guys, and possible a big man.
ORL would have to be stupid not to pursue Maggette. Quality over quan y. Yes their bench is weak, but when you have an opportunity to improve your core you do it regardless. Worry about the bench later.
I shouldn't expect better from Otis though, he did give LA Trevor Ariza for Mo Evans and Brian freaking Cook![]()
We have Bird Rights to re-sign Thomas without going into the luxury tax (the team's somewhere around $18 million or so under the tax threshold).
Delfino would come off the bench.
Not Bowen.
Bowen won't come off the bench under Pop unless hes got one leg, and even then he could probobly out hop defend every mfer on the planet.
Yes they do!!!!
BUT, do the Spurs think hes worth MORE than the MLE though.
Or for KT, would just matching the MLE, be enough?
Ginobili coming off the bench, yes. Bowen coming off the bench, no.
potentially.....
C-Thomas/Oberto
PF-Duncan/Mahimni/Horry
SF-Bowen/Delfino/Udoka
SG-Maggette/Ginobili
PG-Parker/Hill
wow
I would think the issue of matching an MLE offer would not be the dollars but the years. An opponent truly wanting him likely would see that as a improving their chances of getting him what with the Spurs having so many expiring 2010 contracts.
I started to cry when I read that.
Please, god?
I feel the same way.... it's almost too good to believe. Plus Hairston... the last time I saw him, he outplayed Chase Budinger badly.
Lord hear our prayers!
If thomas starts...
well have the freakin argentinian team commin off the bench!!!
The naysayers would say the Spurs are TOO young and TOO athletic!
All wearing Silver medals around their necks...
My degree of happiness is reaching the Drum-set-for-christmas-in-the-fifth-grade level, The Made-out-with-my-best-friend's-sister-in-a-tent-in-their-back-yard level... yes, it's that high...
Where did anyone say Udoka would start? People are talking about Bowen starting IF we get Maggette.
