If anyone offers anything close to what the Spurs offer JR, why would would JR come to the Spurs?

Does anyone think that JR would (all things being equal) want to play for the Spurs?

Yeah, true. MLE split between Wright and Mason perhaps. Carlos Delfemale? Hopefully not Jarvis Hayes.
    What a nightmare.

Azubuike or JR? That is the question.

    The realistic answer: probably neither.
    Sad, but potentially true.

I don't see the Spurs getting either of these guys.

Maggette was a longshot, at best. Perfect fit, but still a longshot.

Personally, I wanted Pietrus as the next choice. I guess the Spurs didn't because there was never a hint that they even had a conversation with him.

    This sucks, ROYALLY!

I doubt it's his dream job, but it's got to be better than riding the Karlacoaster.

Would the full MLE be way too much to offer Azubuike? (And would the Warriors match?)

The Orlando Magic were rumored to be in the mix for free agent Corey Maggette, but it appears they've gone in a different direction.

    Mickael Pietrus

    Pietrus

Florida Today reported on Tuesday that the Magic have reached a verbal agreement with free-agent swingman Mickael Pietrus, who played for the Golden State Warriors last season.

Orlando general manager Otis Smith told the newspaper that the five-year veteran will receive almost all of the Magic's midlevel exception, which starts at $5.2 million next season. The team is expected to sign Pietrus to a multiyear contract on Wednesday.

Besides passing on Maggette, the Magic appear to have closed the door on retaining their own guard Keyon Dooling.

Smith said that Pietrus' ability to defend opponents' shooting guards sets him apart.

"In the Eastern Conference you had better be able to defend that position," he said, according to the newspaper. "We think he can really help us do that. And he can shoot the 3."

Pietrus averaged 7.2 points and 3.7 rebounds last season. Those numbers were off his career highs of 11.1 and 4.5 in 2006-07.

ESPN's Ric Bucher just reported on ESPN Radio Game Night that the Warriors will announce the 50 mil deal that Maggette is expected to sign on tomorrow. Also, the Magic are expected to announce the Pietrus signing tomorrow, as well.

I really don't see a JR Smith signing, simply because he's a RFA.

Spurs are running out of options - FAST.

Nope, you win the draft every year. No reason to think that's gonna change.

Might be able to get him for less than that. However, if the Spurs are only going to offer two years, it'll probably take close to the full MLE to make Azu sign it.

So last year G'St trades away J Rich for nothing, now they lose Baron, and now they think overpaying for Maggette is the solution..... Hats off Chris Mullen, I always knew you were a drunken idiot. Although what can we expect from the same guy who paid Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy like they were star players

Larry Bird is an even worse GM than Mullen who just wanted to get rid of some image problems.

With Maggette's rebounding ability, he might see some time at center in Golden State.
