You will know he was just tired if his rebounds were down and his fouls were up, and his point total doesn't dramatically dip. It's those hustle stats and getting into the right position that go first when you are tired.

And I know he had 4 first half points...and I don't think he went scoreless in the second half either.
he also had a silly turnover trying to handle the ball like a Guard... i think he still made it to a B though... he probably asked to still play to show his grit and willingness to make it to the team... wish we'all have that kind of data

You expected him to not have a single defensive lapse and to not turn the ball over. That is a of a lot of expectations to put on a player who has never played with these teammates and is still learning the point guard position.
I expect any point guard that is gong to be getting minutes in our team in 4 months, to have more assists than turnovers, and certainly more than 3 assists a game. I never said I expected him not to have turnovers. Every player has them. But if you don't make up for them somewhere else, yore not helping the team, you're being part of the problem. And as far as his defense, I can understand if it happens to him once. But except for periods on his first game, and this game, he has lost his guy numerous times. Sometimes his guy didn't get the basket and finish, but that doesn't mean it's not a problem. If he gets minutes against the CP3, DWill and Nash of the league, he needs to know how to keep up with his guy. Today he looked a lot better. We'll see if it was a real improvement (I hope so), or just the level of compe ion.

If anything he showed that he had this talent in those first couple of games things just weren't falling for him. Face it you bailed on Hill and now that he is finally putting up points you want back on the wagon. You suck at analyzing a player for overall ability and letting a player learn the system.
I didn't bail on him and I said so multiple times before this game. I said he had a lot of work ahead of him. And he needs more than one good game to convince me he's not Toros material. We'll see how he does next game.
And you are no better than me and any other armchair GM analyzing talent, so spare me.

and did you see them put up Deron Williams summer league stats?
    9 pts
    4 asts
Did he also average 4 TOs a game?

    ElNono:
The Hill I'm seeing is barely NBDL material.

Right now, he completely SUCKS as a Point Guard. Maybe he'll get better down the road, but right at this moment he sucks donkey balls. There's no other way to put it.
Yeah you didn't bail on him at all and you even said his defense sucks

No box score yet, but some numbers in the recap ...

The Utah Jazz kicked off their Summer League play at the Rocky Mountain Revue Friday night with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio used a dominant second half offensively to quiet the home crowd in Salt Lake City. First round draft pick George Hill led the Spurs with 21 points and 3 assists. Morris Almond had 17 to lead Utah.

The Jazz never could find their offense shooting only 29.8 percent for the game and had only one player in double figures with Almond. San Antonio finished with 44.8 percent and had four players in double figures. Ian Mahimmi had 11 points. Anthony Tolliver and Brian Morrison both finished with 10.

The Spurs led 20-15 at the end of the first quarter fueled by an 11-2 lead to start the game. George Hill led the way for the Spurs with 8 points in the quarter. The Jazz struggled to find their offense as Almond paced them with 7 points.

Morris Almond and Hiram Fuller led a Jazz comeback in the second quarter with hustle blocks, rebounds and defense. Jazz big men Kyrylo Fesenko and Kosta Koufus played limited minutes in the first half picking up three quick fouls apiece. Despite not having their two 7-footers on the floor, the Jazz outscored the Spurs in the second quarter to take the lead at half time 37-34 as Morris Almond converted a three point play in the waning seconds.

It was a low scoring first half as both teams struggled from the field. The Spurs shot 34.3 percent while the Jazz faired only slightly better at 36.8 percent.

The Spurs used a balanced attack in the third quarter to retake the lead 55-46. George Hill led the quarter with 9 points. James Gist led the Spurs on the boards with 6 for the game.
Britton Johnsen had 9 points for the Jazz. Kyrylo Fesenko went scoreless for the game but did have 2 blocked shots. Kosta Koufos finished with 5 points and 4 rebounds.

Do you have reading comprehension problems?
And yes, I said his defense sucked because it did. I actually highlighted that improvement on that in this game as a high point of his performance. He needs tolearn to play Spurs defense in 4 months. Playing league-average defense won't cut it with Pop.

    ohhh thanks for the post.

Gist- i thought this was gist's worst game but hes played 5 games in 5 days so him still hustling and playing with heart and energy tells me that he really wants it. and so far hes been our most deserving and consistent player so this "off" game doesnt concern me.

So you guys spend 4 games saying "it's just summer league" to write off his bad performances but now his 21 points is cause for chest thumping after another pre-pre-season game? Hilarious!

REally, pop is unhappy with his d? Thats funny, he is quoted to the contrary below...

The most important expert still firmly in Hill’s camp: Popovich.

“He’s shown us two things,” Popovich said. “One, that he is a legitimate NBA defender. He’s done a very good job on some very high draft picks in this (Las Vegas) camp.

    WHO'S HOT

Guard Jeremy Richardson -- who played 27 games for Memphis, San Antonio and Atlanta last season -- had 21 points in 30 minutes as the Hawks beat Dallas 89-74 in the Revue opener.

Richardson, from Delta State, shot 8-of-14 from the field.

Atlanta also got 20 points off the bench from Luke Jackson, a 2004 lottery pick who has bounced around the NBA and the NBA Development League after a back injury derailed his career early on.

Recently signed Gerald Green led the Mavericks with 20 points off the bench.

San Antonio's 2008 first-round draft choice, IUPUI product George Hill, led the Spurs with three assists and 21 points with 6-of-14 field shooting in 27 minutes. "

Dude, terrible turn of phrase. I know what you mean, but it's an ugly way to use words.

People around here (not just you) use the word "rape" far too lightly. It is a very serious word.
