Some actor said he wanted to be Penguin in the Nolan version of Batman, I think it was this dude. But Nolan said that Penguin was not realistic enough and wouldn't be included in his films. The next film will probably be Catwoman, since when Batman is talking to Morgan Freeman about making his suit stronger, he says it will protect him from cats.
    Well done, JT

Who would make a good Catwoman?

    I think Angelina Jolie would.

I personally don't like catwoman too much.

Well I'm glad they wouldn't let us wait through the credits at the IMAX otherwise we would've sat there like idiots, lol. That movie was awesome! I wanna see it again already.

Could they have the joker in the next film? If they bring him back who would play him?

Catwoman as the next villian IMO.

After Ledgers performance as Joker the next film will have to cast the perfect actor for the next villian.

If the villian is in fact The Riddler, I can think of no better actor that can keep on par with Heath's performance than Johnny Depp as The Riddler.

"Knight" earned $155.3 to beat opening weekend record of $151.1 million

"Dark Knight" brought in $66.4 million on its first day in theaters

Previous record was $59.8 million, held by "Spider-Man 3"

Film has received a boost from stellar reviews, buzz around Heath Ledger

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A Warner Bros. executive says the Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" has taken in $155.34 million to top "Spider-Man 3" for best opening weekend ever at the box office.

The figures released Sunday show "The Dark Knight" more than $4 million ahead of the $151.1 million first weekend for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007.

Studio distribution chief Dan Fellman says "The Dark Knight" also broke the "Spider-Man 3" record for best debut in IMAX large-screen theaters with $6.2 million. "Spider-Man 3" opened with $4.7 million in IMAX cinemas.

Stoked by fan fever over the manic performance of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, "The Dark Knight" also set a one-day box office record with $66.4 million on opening day, Fellman said Saturday.

The movie's Friday haul surpassed the previous record of $59.8 million set last year by "Spider-Man 3." iReport.com: Did you see 'Dark Knight'?

"The Dark Knight" began with a record $18.5 million from midnight screenings, topping the previous high of $16.9 million for "Star Wars: Episode III -- The Revenge of the Sith."

The opening day grosses for "The Dark Knight" far exceeded the full weekend haul of its predecessor, "Batman Begins," which took in $48.7 million in its first three days in 2005.

Reviews were excellent for director Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins," but they were stellar for his "Dark Knight."

"We've really never seen anything like this," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. "The death of a fine actor taken in his prime, a legendary performance and a movie that lives up to all the hype. That all combined to create these record-breaking numbers."

Buzz had been high for the Batman sequel well before Ledger died of an accidental prescription-drug overdose in January. Trailers last fall revealing Ledger's demented Joker, with crooked clown makeup, turned up the heat even more. The critical acclaim over his performance that built from advance screenings left fans in a frenzy.

"It's a combination of things. Certainly, that's a great part of it, but I think this movie's gross was partly because of the reviews it received and the incredible buzz and word of mouth that preceded it with our early screenings," Fellman said. "And the success and quality of the last one, 'Batman Begins,' delivered by Chris Nolan just set the tone for the opening of this movie."

"The Dark Knight" reunites Christian Bale as Batman, the vigilante crime-fighter tormented by personal tragedy, and co-stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Gary Oldman.

The film spins an epic crime duel as Ledger's Joker orchestrates a reign of terror on the city of Gotham aimed to spread chaos and break down the restraint that keeps Batman on the right side of the law.

Although critics are taking the film seriously enough to suggest that Ledger could be in line for an Academy Award nomination, the action-packed movie also delivers as pure summer movie escapism.

"If you're worried about mortgage payments and gas prices, when you're sitting in 'The Dark Knight' for two and a half hours, you're not thinking about any of that stuff," Dergarabedian said.

If Batman survived the same fall why couldnt Dent? You can rule nothing out in the comic world.

Johnny Depp is about the only person in Hollywood that could pull it off without insulting Ledger's take on the Joker. Ed Norton would have been a good Riddler, but I think Marvel's lawyers wouldn't take too kindly to that now.

    I agree.

Remember when Batman turned Dent's head, saying that people should remember only his good side?
The memorial service was held not only to honor the good Dent, but also to hide his new iden y from everybody.

I think they put Dent in a secret prison, and he will escape in the next Batman

don't they take sunday into account for total weekend earnings?
Usually the three day weekend totals are released Monday morning. The numbers for Dark Knight are likely to go up even more. It's re-watch value is pretty high, and if it sustains, it could outsell anic. The only people who paid to see anic more than once are women getting wet over DiCaprio. Kate Winslet's s weren't enough to bring back men because you could have gotten better and more content in a Playboy mag for the same price. This movie will have lots of people going back more than once to see it. Dunno if it will make more money than anic, but it's probably the only movie to come out since then with the potential.

But one thing it has working against it is Internet piracy is so much bigger now...there's already decent audio/video quality versions of the film on streaming sites, and it usually takes two weeks to a month to get that level of pirated quality out to the public. For this it only took two days.

I agree with both of you. Im pretty sure he didnt die. He will be in Arkam or something.

And as far as Ekhart, he almost stole the movie for me. His Two Face was disturbing. Not much more can be said about Ledgar, he was awesome. I also really loved Gary Oldam is this movie, thought he did a fine job. As far as Bale's Batman voice, it was the same as the last one, so I dont know why people thought he would change his voice for this one. Damn good movie overall, 8/10

I wonder who the next villian will be............

We can pencil in Two-Face, but who will also tag along, there were 2 villians both in TDK and Batman Begins both having a major role and minor role.

    Mad Hatter?
    Penguin?
    Riddler?
    Ventriloquist?
Hopefully it will be someone dark. Maybe like a combo of Killer Croc and Clayface or something. I also wouldnt mind seeing a Bane movie. The Clooney Batman ed up that character so bad, it would be nice to see an actual good story based around him.

Johnny Depp as the Riddler would be perfect.

Penguin? That would be tough. I don't know who you could portray as the penguin, as honestly, I don't know his background story that well.

The whole penguins with rockets, sigh, pathetic..

Mad Hatter? Ventriloquist? Never heard of em.
