I think this roster has a winning record and competes for the division le...I don't think it will get past the 2nd round though. We are 1 athletic scorer away IMO...

That roster needs one more big man that is better than Oberto and...you still need a shooter.

No, but it's July. Who knows if half of those "R's" will even be on the Spurs roster in October.

there's no way anymore than 2 and probably only just one guy with an "R" after their name will be on the 15 man roster come Oct.

If Hill and Ian play well this year, yes we can. Still think the spurs need to add a young big man via trade or a wing with some springs who can draw fouls.

Im not a Smith guy. If he could be controlled and mature a bit yes, to me he will end up peaking very young because he doesnt respect the game.

He claims no one has contacted him right after he just slapped some woman and wonders why.

Hope he gets a clue but I doubt he will. I wouldnt mind Ariza from L.A. they will not use him much most likely and will not be able to afford to keep him next year so I wouldnt mind trading for him or picking him up next summer.

I just think we need a bit more youth on the wings and dont like the fact we are holding out spending or making deals....drafting players...for 2010 when there is no telling if we will even be able to sign anyone of the top 5 guys.

I hope Pops has something up his sleves this offseason but to me it looks like we are gonna sit tight and be happy with Mason.

I like him but word is he wants 5yr MLE or he will play out his restricted status and test the waters next year so he wound be a spur without a trade.

I think in a year or two this guy is a 17ppg 8rpg guy.

Have we addressed the biggest concern coming into the offseason - a guy that can score buckets and create his own shot? Nope. Did we lose our best outside shooter? Yes. The only logical conclusion --> the Spurs are worse off than they were last year. Fifth seed possibly, maybe sixth. I wouldn't be surprised at a first round exit. Lakers, Rockets, Hornets are definitely better than the Spurs. The Suns and possibly the Mavs also have a good shot at beating the Spurs in a playoff series.

It was fun while it lasted. Imagine if the Spurs had a decent owner. They'd probably have 6 championships by now, going on 7.

Spurs improved this summer by adding Mason, Ian and Hill. Barry and Fin play no D and Fins shot is here today gone tomorrow. Mason is a good shooter and I believe hill will be a better shooter than what we have seen in summer leauge. His legs are gone and the first thing to go when you lose your lift is your shot.

Im sure Fin will be brought back after the market is set for him.

Im not sure the spurs are done adding yet, I can see a trade happening were we pick up another big or a wing.

Rockets and Hornets are not better by a long shot. The west will adjust to the Lakers and Hornets and they wont sneak up on anyone like they did last year. Its harder to win when everyone is gunning for you.

The Spur will play to win Home Court this year, no more resting players.

They will make a serious run at the le as long as not major injury occures.

Lakers are being overplayed. They were exposed in the finals. They had a fairly easy time in the west bracket because they match up well with Denver and Uth who play no D and caught the spur tired and Manu with a bad foot.

Next year moving guys around is gonna take away from Gasols strong points as well as Odoms. If Bynum plays a lot, they will not be scoring 108ppg.

They Lakers and Spurs are close and Home Court as of now will be the main factor I believe in who comes out of the West. Hornets match up well with LA so I dont put them far behind. This is why the Lakers are doing all they can to get Artest. They know they got lucky last year. Phil even admits it.

I see the spurs winning 62-64games LA 60 NO 59 Houst 57 Uth 57 Phx 55 and in a shocker portland with the 7th seed 51.

During the season maybe but in the playoffs...NO!!!

Spurs need another penetrator who can help out TP and MG... Also we are small in the big positions and like the past season we will get murdered in the paint and rebounds

I hope so...but I think our chance is not that great. Im afraid our Big 3 will got tired in playoffs if we got tough schedules like last season which I assume its going to be repeated. I really hope we got favorable schedule, coz we dont get extra upgrades considering Bonnes leave us..hopefully Mason,Udoka,Mahinmi step up. Somehow I dont think Hill is ready.

Even Clippers now is a legitimate contender: BD, Camby, Mobley, Kaman, Al Thorton..I heard they got good guard too at 7th pick...DAMNNN. Hornets adding Posey.... damn

Maybe if we had Maggette and Splitter. With the current projected roster we will not win 60 games nor finish #1 in the West. I'm being realistic.

Have faith, are your forgetting that the spurs rest players in the reg season which leads to more loses than we should have. This year we will be deeper and Pops has said they will not look to rest players over getting wins.

If we stay away from injury we will win 60 games I have no doubt.

Everyone forgets how close we were with an old team not bench, no young legs and an injured manu. We are deeper now and younger. We should be a better rebounding team with Ian and Hill as well as Thomas now onboard for his first full year.

We only missed the one seed by a game this year, when we lost to the lakers while resting Manu for the playoffs.

Im not completely sold on Vaughn or Hill as the backup PG, I still feel like we need a more solid Veteran capable of hitting the outside shot. Vaughn showed that when left open he was not able to knock it down consistently and Hill is just unproven. Am I the only one who thinks that Vaughn and Hill are not the answer to that role?? Im not here to start an argument about Hill, but I just think he may need a year or two to be a solid back up. If we are going to make a serious run would you be content with Vaughn or Hill as the back up??

This team can win, because of defense. Mason is a defensive upgrade over an aging Finley, and Hill will be an upgrade over Barry and Vaughn. A young and springy Gist will help. Tolliver might be an upgrade over Bonner. The Spurs are sticking to their Defense First philosophy. With Mahinmi, Gist, and Hill, they also have the potential to be a better rebounding team.
