If we got Charles Barkley, we'd have a big who could defend an athletic 3/4 and fill the scoring void. I'm all for it.

Making Moves: The Chicago Bulls are still trying to tweak their roster before camps open, notably the Bulls still have made no progress with Ben Gordon and his camp. One NBA source said the hold up with Gordon is simply an unwillingness on Gordon's side to even consider a deal for less than $9 million per season. Bull's sources contend that Chicago has a $60 million package on the table for Gordon, a package they will not consider increasing. It's been suggested that if Gordon is not signed by the start of training camp the Bulls will pull the offer. It's also being suggested that the Bulls are also looking at trade scenarios involving Larry Hughes and/or Andres Nocioni – both players are not considered long-term for the Bulls. In fact, one Bulls source said the Bulls would trade Larry Hughes for almost nothing, simply to clear the roster spot and the long-term salary. Look for Chicago to be active in mid-season trade talks, especially if nothing happens with Ben Gordon before camp opens at the end of September.

I know this a Hoopsworld article, but man we NEED Nocioni . How serious do you think the Bulls are in offloading him? What do you think they'd be after the most? Expiring contracts to clear cap space? I wonder if the Spurs have contacted Chicago this off season about him.

I think the Bulls are working different scenarios at the same time.
-somehow dump Hughes (more or less impossible)
-trade Nocioni but get some talent in return
-trade Hinrich if it gets them the really needed piece (low post scorer)
-S&T Gordon, depending on what they get back.

they won't do all 4 moves. maybe 2 out of this list. if they look for just cup relieve in Nocioni's case, we would have already seen him traded. his (declining) salary isn't that bad compared to what he delivers.
as we know, our assets look somehow bad. depending on the other moves of the Bulls (in the back court) they might be interested in a player type like Hill, but similar to all of us they can't know if he will ever be a NBA player. Oberto could be somehow interesting for them, next season is only 50% guaranteed (Spurs could send cash to cover this), it's almost an expiring contract. a very smart veteran big like Oberto could find his niche in a minor role in Chicago for some time. maybe the Splitter rights are attractive, if they see a chance to ever bring him over. in general Splitters abilities to score in the paint would fit great with them. maybe they see this ability also in Ian (unlikely). Bonner need to be the filler for the salary match.
I think it's not totally impossible but very unlikely to find a package the Bulls finally want. but or course they should try hard.

Yeah, you are right, the Bulls would have already traded Nocioni if they were looking for expiring contracts. I guess like you said above Nocioni is a player that you should be able to get talent in return for.

I completely forgot about Splitter though. I wonder if the Bulls would be interested in his rights? I think the Bulls would be kicking themselves over not going for Scola if the offer was there last off season.

Nocioni has the rep of dirtiest player in the NBA. Yeah he'd be a Spurs type player because he plays hard nosed old school basketball. Oh and he flops better than Ginobili. lol

Given Gordon's current situation I don't think the Bulls are looking to move Hinrich anymore. I'm not even sure S&T'ing Gordon is an option considering how much money he's looking for. Would Gordon really be able to get $70 mil on the open market as an unrestricted free agent?

yes and no. I agree that the Bulls wouldn't want to take back the equivalent of the starting salary of a 70M contract, but there is still the chance of a 3 or 4 teams trade to make this work. it's not that such things don't ever happen.

The time to get Noci has already passed. Like Manu, the dude is broke down and too expensive.

If that idiot in the FO hadn't have screwed up, we'd be back to back to back to back to back to back to back champions.

Man..if we could take everyone on ST and turn them into one person and make that person GM of the spurs we'd have won back to back championships since Duncan was drafted.

But instead we fail to sign Maggette because we didn't have enough money, we were unable to sign Pargo because he went to Europe, we were unable to sign JR Smith becuase of money and the fact he makes bad decisions, we drafted boring old Hill instead of young versions of Josh Howard, and we let Manu Ginobili represent his team in the Olympics. What a ty, ty front office.

Can you imagine how good our team would be if ST members were the FO? Pop wouldn't be the coach, we'd have Nocioni, JR Smith, Maggette, Pargo, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Ginobili would have been traded since he is old and broken, Brent Barry would have resigned, not to mention our veteran Allen Houston backing up TP, and we couldve signed Chalmers as a weed buddy for JR smith too.

    We'd be so good.

    Tony Parker/Allen Houston/Pargo
    Ginobili/JR Smith/Barry?
    Maggette/Nocioni/Bowen
    Duncan/Bonner
    Oberto/Thomas

Seriously, how baller of a lineup would that be. Best of all worlds. We add Allen Houston so we still have a really old Finley-esqe player, JR Smith has Chalmers in the same way that Oberto has Ginobili so they don't get lonely, we have Maggette, Nocioni, and Bowen so we can switch between all offense, some offense some defense, all defense. They all compliment each other so well too! Duncan and Oberto are unselfish so there should still be enough shots to go around. We won't have Popovich so JR Smith can still shoot halfcourt 3's and Maggette can dominate the ball as much he wants. Nocioni can hangout with Ginobili and Oberto on the bench. Barry will probably get injured and miss most of the season but whenever we play the Lakers he'll put up 20+ points so will still be worth it.

Sometimes I get sad knowing it will never happen.
