As long as it is not a blown Achilles and just a sprained ankle...it is only August, he will be fine by training camp.

This could set him back for months.

However if there is a bright side to all this, Manu was going to need the rest anyway, seeing as how he virtually has had no offseason. He'll now be forced to concentrate only on rehabbing his ankle, which will keep him out of compe ion until he's healed.

As soon as I saw the le of this thread, I figure the naysayers would be coming out of the woodwork........ready to pounce (trade manu, manu sucks, manu shouldn't have played, blah, blah, blah). Well, he played, he got injured....next!

Back to the news at hand....what's his status? Did he come back in the game? I know the US will win but I was hoping the Argentina would make it a compe ive game....probably less so if Manu is out of the lineup. Bummer about the ankle!

All I care about is that he'll be okay and will be ready for the season. Take Care Manu! Sending positive karma your way.

Doesn't appear that he came back after the first quarter.

Looks like he's pretty much done.

Let's just hope he didn't aggravate his previous injury.

I bet he could have come back if he wanted, but he probably realized it wasn't worth it because there's no way USA was going to lose.

    It sucks.
Spurs have definitely a black cat on their shoulders for some months :
    - Manu's injury against Phoenix and for the whole playoffs.
    - Duncan illness against Hornets.
    - Air Champion.
    - Barry fouled in game 4 against Lakers.
    - Splitter changing his mind and staying in europe.
    - Spurs not getting their man (Batum) in the draft.
    - Spurs not getting Maggette.
    - Manu's injury in Beijing.

It starts to make a lot.

Fixed. But you are right, I think this offseason might be the final blow to the Spurs Dynasty.

Who knows, one or two different decisions could have left this team with 5 rings.

It's a serious conflict of interest for an NBA team to sign a contract with a player and pay the MILLIONS OF DOLLARS only to watch them get injured playing for another team.
