Some are upset on TV saying that USA didn't play as a team, that they only won with atletism and individual talent. No systems, no defence, not passing the ball, that Spain was playing better and USA plays like an All Star team.

I agree. It was a case of talent trumping teamwork. If the US would played using Spain's system, they would've won by 50 points.

We mostly ed around and got bailed out by our 3 point shooting. But hey, you can't fault a team for being talented can you?

The best player on Spain wouldn't have made the US team. In this game they had one NBA All-Star (P. Gasol), two NBA washouts (Navarro and Lopez) and young future NBA talent (Fernandez, M. Gasol and Rubio). That's decently talented but less talent than Argentina and not too far away from a team like Lithuania.

I think people see the names on this team and don't realize that they didn't play their best ball a lot of the time. Anytime Kidd was on the court they really did play handicapped. Kobe played really poorly for much of the tournament and made a lot of bad decisions. Howard was a liability at times if he had a sizeable opponent. At many points Wade, Lebron, Paul, Bosh and Dwill carried this team in one way or another.

I think they were great, but there's no question in my mind they could have been better. A lot of that is on Coach K. Making JKidd a starter was a bad decision and its one that should have been changed early on. I don't think they felt enough pressure to do that but that doesn't change that Jason Kidd was easily the worst player for this team and got a good deal of minutes. He probably did the best he could with the bigs he had to work with, and I don't know if he coudl really have benched Kobe more because he's Kobe, but I definetly see things that could have been done better.

WTF LJ. You're a Spurs fan and you're acting like being a better team isn't more valuable than raw talent? For the most part this Spain team has played together for quite a bit of time. Not only that but their games are much better suited to the international rules. That goes a bit of the way to making up for the talent disparity.
