There was rioting in 1968 when RFK and MLK were assassinated. This would be an even greater greivance, and I do not think that Americans are less disposed to violence now than they were then.
And I sense that there has been sort of an unspoken assumption between red and blue America that neither will be the first one to go outside the political system to resolve disputes, since to do so would cede some kind of moral high ground, but that once one side does, the other will respond in kind.
So I guess what I'm saying is that it wouldn't just be another 1968; it would be somewhere between 1968 and, say, a national Bleeding Kansas.
My first action would be to review all of the McCain/Palin campaign stop tapes...

There is a clear difference between what is going on in the McCain/Palin rallies than anything that goes on in an Obama rally. What we see in the McCain/Palin rallies brings back frightening images of the Civil Rights era in this country, it's a period of time I wish we never ever go back to.
It's becoming more and more important to me why Obama must win this election. Not only to end the failed Republican policies, but to forcefully reject the tactics of race baiting and polarization that the Right has been using for the last few decades.

Well he was most likely born one...or at some point was considered one, unless his fathers didn't give a about him.
It's not that he had to be a Muslim by the laws of Islam...even under the most strict inpterpretations. It's that he would be considered somewhat of a lost soul or secondary citizen even under the most liberal interpretations.
It'd be like an atheist allowing his child to be raised as one of those backwards Christians. Yeah it could happen...and yeah the Father would consider him somewhat backwards because of it....under any interpretation of Islam. Even the ones that believe in separation of church and state and espouse secular Democracy.
If his Mom was absolutely admantant about it then sure...since she was a Christian he could have been raised as one if agreed upon by both parties, even under the most strict interpretation, as in even Usama would do this.
...but since his Mom married two Muslims I doubt she had huge issues with Islam...call it a hunch.
Who knows maybe she did raise about it and that's why Obama Sr had no problems abandoning his second rate child....when he returned, as he always did, to his first wife, his Muslim Wife.
But then you still have to explain why Sottero adopted him...
