I think what he means is that Farmer has that reckless abandon at ude, like SJax had. Hairston forte is more on the hustle and defense department. And I agree with his observation.

alot of you waste time on salaries and like that. Look.. I ain't paying for .
I can type all I want and say how stupid it is or was to pay Bonner, Malik Rose, Finley, Vaughn or anyone any frickin jack.
But, honestly, all I give a about is winning. Bonner doesn't in equate to in a legit NBA minute. I knew that from day one. I'm glad you ers finally woke up.

Tolliver is a lock for the team so arguing whether or not hes gonna be or should be there is moot.
Tolliver has shot the ball well lately, and his hustle ability is better than Bonners, I again have to disagree with that.
I still say we need to get rid of Little Red Riding the Bench and Rip Van Vaughn.....I would rather have Barry than Finley, but that just isn't gonna happen, so I will have to live with it.
Keep Tolliver, Farmer, Hairston, and Watkins......

I'm not good enough with salary stuff to be able to figure out what scenario would be beneficial for a team to take him off the Spurs' hands, but if there's one, I'd love to hear about it.
Plus Pop is in love with him, even giving him a standing ovation today. He's a lock, no doubt about it.
I'm sure trading him to a team thats loading up for bear on capspace next year that doesn't care about winning this year is what would work, but I don't know of a team thats doing that, nor do I think the Spurs want to get rid of Bonner.

And that is a shame....Watkins could have been a very nice player off the bench for defensive purposes and some enforcer muscle.
ITs pretty hard not to like a kid that busts his ass and does what you tell him to do.
Watkins is just not NBA level material. As much as I agree I'd like him on the team, I just can't in good sense put him ahead of guys like Tolliver or Hairston or Farmer.

Most great shooters have an at ude. Hairston's jumper is nowhere near close at this point.
I like Watkins too, but we can't just give up on Ian without seeing him playing with NBA guys..Watkins would make too many bigs..
How so? Watkins would merely be replacing Bonner. He would be an end of bench guy who would be great to use in practice. Even better, we could send him to Austin and allow him to get significant minutes and improve his game the way we did with Ian.
I don't think Watkins qualifies for the sending down part anymore.
Sigh, there needs to be a roster 101 thread tacked to the top to explain all of that stuff over and over.

Do I smell peach ice cream? If Pop's willing to piss away a draft pick for a training camp invitee that hasn't really shown anything on the floor against NBA compe ion, then God bless him, but don't act like Tolliver's given him a reason to do that. Hairston sure hasn't. Saying that Pop has a crush on him that won't be swayed by logic isn't a reason for YOU to think he's a better option.
I'm sorry, but if 7-20 from the field and 1-7 from three point range in the last two games is shooting the ball "well" then I'm going to need to come up with my own adjective. If Bonner does one thing well, it's hustle.
Stoudamire struggles in loss

Salim Stoudamire arrived in San Antonio last month with a make-good contract in hand and a promise in his heart.
He would play as best he could for as long as he could. Either the Spurs would like him enough to include him on their regular-season roster, or they wouldn't.
So far, Stoudamire's mind has been willing. His body is not.
Playing on a strained groin that has not been right since the first day of training camp, Stoudamire limped through a desperate stint in the Spurs' 100-95 exhibition loss to Washington on Wednesday night at the AT&T Center.
Making just his second preseason appearance, Stoudamire pressed through 18 minutes, scoring three points on 1-of-5 shooting. Though he still has until Monday to impress Spurs coaches, Stoudamire's hobbled preseason has opened the door for other players — such as rookie Malik Hairston or Desmon Farmer — to make the roster.
“He is in a tough spot,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Stoudamire. “He's not 100 percent, and he wants to make a basketball team, and he would like to be as healthy as possible to give it his best go.”
Your vehmently arguing against Tolliver when even Ginobili has said hes a lock to make the roster.

lol Tolliver hasn't shot the ball well at all. In the games where he's scored points, some of them came inside off of steals and dunks. If you were to look at Tolliver's percentage on jump shots only, it'd be pretty bad.
Salim tweaked his groin again chasing down a ball he shoudn't have lost control of. He's gone.
I'm gonna say Pop decoder ring says Salim is toast.
Again, you've completely failed to give a valid basketball reason why he should make the team. Separate from the hive-mind and make an original basketball observation. They won't revoke your season tickets if you do. I promise.

I've given why.
Hes a athletic 4 who can shoot the outside shot.
Hes more athletic than Bonner and he can shoot the rock better.
