Great move by Pop in putting Mason as the starting PG. It motivated Hill and kept JV on the bench. Ahearn looked much better in this game.
Man, even in the pics, Oberto looks like he's going through the motions!

Mason...you kick ass son. I am so excited to see what will happen when everyone is healthy. Get ready bustaz......
The first full season after the Joey Crawford incident, last year, TD went to the line for 5.9 FTAs per game. That's down from 7.1 FTAs per game the year before. His minutes were almost identical 34.1/34.0, and I dont' recall Pop reducing his role in the offense, do you? He actually had 47 more FGAs last year, although that could be a function of no call missed FGAs. Draw your own conclusions...
When Mason was acquired, I looked at his career stats which didn't hint that he would blossom as a Spur. I'm sure the Spurs are as surprised as they are happy.
Shooters go in slumps - so what?
But when this team is full strength, he's going to get a lot of open shots - more than he is seeing now, and more than he saw at any of the other stops that he has made in his career.
In addition, Mason has shown the ability to get to the rim on occasion - which has been a pleasant surprise for me.
He's basically looking like everything that we had hoped Finley would be when he signed 3 years ago (not that Finley hasn't done some nice things as is) - and playing decent to good defense on top of that.
Also - given his reputation as a cerebral player - it's likely that he's going to get even better as he gets more exposure to the system and his teammates. Not necessarily better in the shooting percentage - but better in terms of the overall impact towards helping this team win ballgames.
Well, he did some nice things in DC last year - and that was without any kind of an inside presence to help create space for his shot.
One thing for sure about Mason, he is making me quickly forget the loss of Bones this past summer.
I hated our offseason. George Hill and Roger Mason? We lost Brent Barry and brought back Finley. My how a few games have changed things. Pop is ing brilliant.
Roger Money Mason, damn he was on fire last night. Gotta give some props to GHill too, he was pretty impressive.
3rd round facing the Lakers would be fine, 1st round is suicide.
You're crazy if you want the Lakers in the first round. Even I wouldn't want the Lakers to face the Lakers in the first round.
His splits as a starter did hint at this kind of production, but it was a fairly small sample IIRC.
I dont think the young Lakers can handle a healthy spurs team in the first round.
dont underestimate the heart of a champion my friend....![]()

If the Spurs turn things around and are good enough to beat the Lakers, no way in will they be #8 seed good Sir![]()
yea, well hypothetically speaking, ya know
another got damn foreigner...
Translated.
there's a good reason why the Spurs would want #8, they get into the playoffs and quite possibly keep the Kurt Thomas-1st round draft pick. not to mention the Spurs getting first crack on the Lakers' asses.
Have to disagree with that.

spurs will have one player that better win an award
