I hope Bonner is successful enough early in the season to be traded.
Matt Bonner should and will be a success this year just like the past. Energy and hustle get you in the lineup.
I hope Bonner is successful enough early in the season to be traded.
I think he will be a mild success. He was finding his feet last year before he got hurt. He needs to work on his defense, and his shot blocking, but I think he will do fine.
Yeah he was pretty solid in the first half of last season, and in 07, in the time he had.
So solid he ended up not being able to get off the bench late last year.
That has less to do with Bonner than it does with the guy who decides who gets off the bench.
Nice .. I'm glad some were at least optimistic about Bonner.
Well it seems I was wrong. It's evident from the care and pride that Pop takes in his beard that being appointed his beard groomer was a promotion to a place of honor.
nice bump! I voted success back then BTW, its italicized

I wish Pop had tried the "just shut up" experiment when Beno was still here.
Just because I didn't vote in it doesn't mean I didn't have a position. The poll itself didn't fit with mine. Success is determined by the coach, and bust is determined by the player. I've always said that Bonner can play but the coach won't give him a chance. Seems I was right on both fronts. Again.
+1
I would've mentioned Pop's hard on for Horry(stupid silent h), but whatevz.
EDIT: Glad to see I supported bonner, even I didn't remembering voting in this thread.
Next time I'll be sure to add Option C (Both)- Success is determined by the coach, and bust is determined by the player.
i see a familiar name here.![]()
I didn't have the internet ... or this thread wouldve gotten plenty of z0sa love a long time ago !!
true true
If you want to do an ESPN style "call this" poll that has poorly thought out options, then you deserve praise for a job well done. Bonner is a good player who was being shackled to the bench by a guy playing Overcoach who was micromanaging him; something he had done to other players in the past. A better poll would have had the options "Pop will let him play" or "He will be traded for nothing like Beno".
Your options don't fit in with the observations that I made.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.![]()
You're welcome. I was trying to find a way to throw you some praise. Even though I didn't vote in the poll, I was glad for the discussion that it brought up.
You honestly don't know how good it feels that someone else understands what Bonner went through.
The jury is still out on Bonner, IMO. Yes, he's exceeded my expectations at this point, but all this good play in December won't be worth a lot if he can't play at a decent level when the compe ion gets stiffer and the games start to count. That's when a player named Robert Horry used to actually start to punch the clock. Bonner has some huge shoes to fill in that regard.
However, he has played himself into a more valuable trading commodity which I can honestly appreciate. Kudos to Matt for his newfound success this year! I hope he keeps it up!![]()
Although, he didn't start playing lights-out until after I jumped off the wagon, so...
Bonner Sucks! Trade him and Vaughn for a superstar!
