Well, unfortunately I don't see the Spurs trading for him, but Jackson might be a solution to when we get into those really bad scoring droughts.

It's far from sure that Spurs consider that getting back S-Jax is a "great opportunity".

In 03, they let him go by refusing to give him a big contract.
Five years later, he is basically the same player except that his contract is significantly bigger that what Spurs were ready to give him in 03. Spurs also want to have some cap space in 2010.

S-Jax brings a lot of good memories to Spurs' fans but Spurs' staff hasn't that emotional approach. I don't see Spurs investing $43M and canceling their 2010 plan for a player that has some qualities but who is also an inconsistent, inefficient scorer with a questionable at ude.

    BTW, welcome on the board.
Capspace is bull , and there's no way the Spurs will do with it when they'll be competing against New York, Brooklyn, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, and Portland, not to mention the unattractive cities with huge capspace like Sacramento, Oklahoma City, Detroit, Minneapolis, etc. Even in a perfect situation in 03 with a young championship core and room to sign anyone all they could land is that scrub Nesterovic. Now they're going to land someone better than Jackson competing against the big markets? I don't see it. The 2010 plan is the stupidest this organization could ever do, and I hope RC gets strung up off the Tower of Americas from his balls if he goes down with the ship all the way to 2010 with this asinine idea.

Look at SJax's career stats to for very low RB, AST, Blocks, in spite of his height and athleticism. His TOs are high. He's a stupid, inefficient chucker/rebound generator/brawler/night-clubber not offset by his few big 3s he hit for the Spurs.
The Spurs easily get upset by Phoenix in '03 without Jackson.

Not really. This year, Finley is rebounding as well as SJax has.

people are naive if they think Sjax would be a huge upgrade.
he's in fact one of the more overrated players on this board. (and overall)people look at his numbers and say great, but ignore the fact that this numbers are a result of a lot of minutes (he would never play with the Spurs) and tons of shots he gets from Nelson.
if he was a Spur, he would be our 4th option (something he will have problems to acept), play 30 MPG and get 10 shots.
and he will look very very average in this role.
and I can't see the Spurs want to pay 7 million for that impact. well, maybe 7 million for this year, but are they willing to pay 10 million for a 34 years old Sjax? I do have my doubts.

Jackson proved pretty convincingly that he can be a very good player with this core when he was the team's most valuable role player in a le run.

if it were the trade I was proposing......he would be absolutely and undoubtedly a huge upgrade. Udoka, Vaughn, Thomas, Mahinmi and rights to Splitter for Jackson and Randolph. I am not saying GS would ever do this, but you cannot tell me that replacing Udoka with Jax wouldn't be a huge upgrade. It would be foolish to think it wouldn't be.

Bonner, Duncan, Jax, Mason, and Parker would be a killer starting lineup.

Randolph, Tolliver, Bowen, Manu, and Hill would make a very nice second unit.

Jax is abusing the Celtics.....he has made back to back tough shots, a 3 and a 2. He is finding the open man. He just fouled out Ray Allen (always a plus) while shooting a 3.

I love how he plays the game like an assassin. He shows no compassion to the opponent. I would be so excited if we could get him back in silver and black.

This is why, if offered a trade for Jackson, you do whatever it takes to get him.

One of the best big game shooting forward/guards I've ever seen.

You've got to be crazy not to want Jax on the team.

but I want to keep Finley.

I would love to put Bonner, Jax, Finley, Manu, and Mason all on the floor at the same time and play some small ball.
