You have real revisionist history going there. Mohammed was horrible, always out of position, and could not hold on to the ball to save his life. He played way over his head in the 05 playoffs, but after that he returned to his bust level he played at before the Nesterovic injury in Phoenix that year. Nesterovic was a complete bust, and his lack of rebounding ability made him an even worse option, as he couldn't fall on that to help make up for his lack of mobility in being able to stay with Dallas' 4-guard lineups. The only compelling argument you have is for Horry, who has history even if the present wasn't at all on his side that year. If we had 2007 Robert Horry in 2006, then no doubt he should have started. It's real easy to condition on knowing the Spurs lost playing Finley instead of Horry, but that certainly doesn't show Horry getting minutes would have won the series or even let it be as compe ive as it was.
I still cannot believe the way you underestimate Devin Harris' impact. I also can't see how Finley gets the blame. That's just lazy and comes off as nothing but bias against him. If you really want to find a scapegoat, blame Nick Van Exel for being injured.
