This is like Maggette all over again. What a waste of time..
and yes, the stein article triggered this.
Some idiot looked into the fact that this was mentioned and Sheed
even saying that he would like to be traded to San Antonio, is the result of
    this thread...
Again, all this over a "rumor".
I'm not sure what your problem is. Everyone is saying it's just a rumor. A rumor that came from someone in the Pistons organization talking to a source of Chris Duel's. And then that source coming on ESPN radio and talking about it. It's just a trade rumor like the other 100's in the forum. I'm not sure why you are so upset about it or rolling your eyes.

And umm.. the Spurs were trying to get Maggette. Pop has mentioned that several times.

I'm not sure why you all are reading the first post, then skipping to the end of the thread and ripping the original poster for making things up.

The original poster is only repeating what was said on Chris Duel's show on ESPN Radio. Duel had a source on his show on Thursday with connection to the Pistons who said that the Spurs were talking about a deal with the Pistons that involved Finley and Fab (PLUS MORE) for Rasheed. A third team or multiple other players from the Spurs would be involved.

So, please, stop jumping to the end of the thread and ripping the guy who started the thread. He's just the messenger repeating what was on local radio. As with all trade rumors, it's just a rumor for now.
Thanks Kori. I don't understand why people on this board have to be so rude and quick to bash. Were all spurs fans here. Geez people.

    "Were" is the keyword..
We all know how that turned out.. Thank god.

I honestly don't care about this "rumor", or if the spurs actually do somehow pull this off.
But if there were talks, you'd think the spurs would have to insert 1 of our big 3.
So this trade wouldnt work out...
    There! That's it, no more!

If you don't care about this rumor, why do you keep posting in the thread? That's what I'm not understanding . If it's "wasting your time", why I are you here?

And yes, it's been mentioned throughout this thread that the Spurs would have to include much more to get Rasheed (probably Manu) or a third team be involved and multiple other players. You aren't making any revelations by coming into a thread bashing it about how it's wasting your time and won't happen. No one is saying it WILL happen. It's just a discussion of a rumor. I don't get how it's bothering you so much.

I wouldn't say so. Free agency and trades are 2 totally different creatures. The Spurs get spurned on the FA market because they aren't going to overspend on a player, and FAs go where the money is. In a trade like this, it has already been mentioned that Sheed has said he would like to be a part of the Spurs. Plus:
And while I think Steins comment about Sheed wanting to play in SA has been made bigger than it is, do keep in mind that Billups asked Dumars if he was to be traded, Denver would be the place he'd be happiest. So Joe does take his players desires into consideration.
Some fans just like to guess that nothing will happen, since most of the time the Spurs don't do major trades, so they can say they were right later. Ever considered that Pop and the FO are gearing a bit towards win-now mode while Tim has good years left in him, and are trying to convince Holt and the board to shoulder some extra cost for a better chance at more trophies?

Besides, nobody said it was true. Its just a very real possibility.

    Rude??
    I'm being realistic.

Till there's a source on this story or comments from both teams, it's all just speculation on our parts..
It just bugs me to see how some people in here are going a bit overboard with this.
We wait till the trade deadline comes and goes..
Hopefully with another big on our squad...
    Sheed or no Sheed.

Tell there's a source on this story or comments from both teams, it's all just speculation on our parts..
1.)There is a source. Thats how this started (and yet you still treat it as nothing more than speculation)
2.)why would either team talk about a trade until it is being finalized?

What else is there to do but speculate? Whats there to say one of the posters here can't come up with something that makes sense? Its a Spurs board, we talk Spurs, and if it makes you want to roll your eyes that much, why are you reading a thread all about annoying speculation?

Even without Sheed, I like our chances this year. We only have to beat two elite teams, the Lakers, and whoever comes out of the East. I have to think if Manu is healthy, + Bonner playing like he is, + Mason being on fiyah for the course of the season means the Spurs aren't going down in fewer than 7 games this year.

IF (big if) we get Sheed.... shoot, would any team be able to last 6 against us?

    Parker >>> Fisher
    Manu << Kobe
    Bowen < Odom
    Duncan >>>> Bynum
    Sheed = Gasol

I like those odds. And Sheed would absolutely obliterate Gasol's production. He would be lucky to average 8-10 ppg for the series. Not to mention the rebounding help Sheed would bring.

Pistons are instantly my 2nd favorite team if this happens.

As far as trading Splitter/Ian, honestly, how do you NOT make that trade? You build teams to win championships. Sheed would give us fantastic odds to do that this year (as opposed to just good). We would have a massive matchup advantage over any team in the league except the Lakers, where we would still hold a sizable edge (Sheed would be great to help crush through the first two rounds of the West, and be awesome against the Celtics if we made the finals as well).

You make trades to win les. Sheed would most likely do that. I can't see any of our Euro prospects doing that in the near future.

It expired on Oct. 29th, and was only worth $1.847 million. There was a thread about it.

I'd prefer to lose Tau over Ian, especially since the Pistons are in the East. If he's the starting C and they beat the Spurs in the Finals, that's the only way I'll be pissed.

    Just a thought.
If, for one year, we're not afraid to pay the lux-tax, why don't we sign and trade Horry for the entire amount (minus the necessary amount for put Detroit under the lux - tax) of Wallace and put on the three milllions and a pair of 2 draft choices or "other names"?
We have some "euro" names...at the moment the best value we have are the rifghts of Splitter and Javtokas...and none of them is good for a signing this season.
However, I think Javtokas is plaiyng really well and his name coukld be the one of more interest, also for his style of game, for the Pistons...

    Splitter >>> Mahinmi.

Theres a good chance, with a updated CBA in place, that Splitter comes over in 2010. But for a chance to win now, id put him in the Wallace deal without much hesitation.
