Exactly.
I don't see how leaking Ginobili is out for the year gets us Carter on the cheap. Wouldn't teams be more inclined to hold out for more in return knowing we are more desperate now that we've lost one of our best players?
Exactly.
ooops, beat me to it.
Kori or someone else can answer this question?
Another miss direction by the Spurs?
This is crazy. Spurs have got everyone all over the place now.
I hope Manu is OK.
What doesn't make sense is that the VC rumors began circulating on/around Feb. 6 -- which was prior to both the Toronto and Boston games. I dunno what to make of that other than A) The FO had prior interest in VC without regard to any (potential) injury or B) Manu's "injury" had existed for some time, but the team let him play on it regardless and it has just blown up now.
Neither scenario really makes much sense though
No. The most a team can do is include cash as part of the deal -- up to $3 million. But the entire salary will count against the books no matter what.
McDonald, although an idiot at times, has been writing some decent articles lately and does work for the Express news so if he says someone within the organization says its not a threat to end Manu's season, we gotta believe him. He cant be lying his ass off to the avg. fan who reads sa.com or the paper, he would get his ass fired. lol.
This is more convoluted than LOST.
Okay, thanks!
I thought so...just making sure!

For whatever it's worth, some people have said he's been injured since the Golden State game.. what date was that?
2nd Feb
Examples?
I don't think he's lying. He's probably just reporting what he's been told. We can just hope that's the truth.
But that GS game nothing was said about an ankle, just about his Hip.
The timeline is starting to make sense then.
please ginobili come back
and spurs please trade for a big man
please Jesus help this team out

Grande Jalbert! Felicitaciones!
manu was still posting on 2/14 at his site.
I'm not sure what he was saying but from google, he seems fine!
please manu be healthy. praying.
Amen Kori, Amen.
Ginobilli reported out for the season on some message board ?
No thanks.
Mon. Feb. 2. In that game he got whacked in the shoulder and took a hard hit to his hip. I don't remember seeing any funny business with his ankle though.
They might want more players/monetary compensation, something that the Spurs might be willing to do as long as they don't have to part ways with Manu. This is the theory I was explaining earlier. Suppose the trade conversations deadlocked because the Nets wanted Manu and no other Spurs players. Now you take Manu out of the picture and they have to look at whatever else the Spurs are offering. Doesn't mean they'll go for it, but you get conversations started again at a different angle.
That's the type of meeting in which there's a major decision to be made. If it's something simple, it'd be between the player and Pop.
If there is actually a meeting, that has me hopeful. That probably means that there are multiple options on the table.
This is starting to sound like one of those "have surgery or try to play through it" types of situations.
Nope. After the GS game it was said he was really banged up... he said in the postgame interview "all over." I heard that at that point it was ankle/hip/shoulder/tailbone.
