huge win...couldn't believe the comeback. if A&M wins out and wins a game or two in the tourney i think they are in.
Well, I think that still won't matter because all the teams in the Big East and Big 10 conferences have automatic bids because they're the greatest schools ever.

And a Florida team that lost to the LSU squad A&M beat is currently a "lock" despite the #109 SOS and a 2-5 record vs. the RPI top 50.

Big 12 is deep enough, and has enough parity that 5-6 teams should receive bids, but I'm fearing that a 9-7 conf record and a win in the Big 12 tourney might leave the Ags snubbed. I just have this inkling that mediocre teams like Ohio State, Penn State, So Carolina, Florida will get in and the Big 12 will only get 4 teams in. The Pac-10 will also probably get around 5-6 just because they're required to put UCLA in every year, so as long as they keep tanking in Westwood, the number of bids the conference gets increases. I'm sure they'll just go ahead and put Arizona in and leave Arizona State out again, since that makes a lot of sense... and Myles Brand will find some way to put Indiana in there since he's the former president of the school and it will be his "make-a-wish."

Most corrupt, terrible governing body among all sports (except baseball, because no one cares except when teams make it to Omaha anyway).

on espn it says they might get in at 8-8 in conference. i would think they are a lock at 9-7 if they beat mizzou at home, which they could and that would put them at 5-5 against the top 50! , thats much better than a plethora of teams they have in right now.

further, doesn't the fact that A&M has done pretty well in the tourney as of late factor in? its not like we get to the dance and flame out...ala syracuse.

Our Rpi and SOS is on par or better than the majority of teams ESPN is calling locks or the "last 4 in." If we finish at 9-7 and don't lose in the first round of the big 12 tournament, I don't see how they can leave us out. Of course the big east's 16 bids might have something to do with that.

If more than 3 Big 10 teams get in, my head will explode.

NCAA. The NIT hasn't been relevant for years and I don't think any kids get hopped up for the chance to play for the NIT champion.

Nobody watches the NIT unless your team is in it.

The exposure alone from getting into the NCAA tourney, let alone winning a game or two, is worth more than anything the NIT nets you. Recruits want maximum exposure, and that means NCAA tourney appearances.

I'm in the minority. Having any trophy, some postseason wins versus unfamiliar teams, and a couple of prime time ESPN games for a program is better than being an overrated nine seed that gets whacked by UConn. The Billy Clyde Ags are the best example I can think of even though they didn't win the NIT. I think those two wins in 05 helped launch that program into relevance.

    , there's a second NIT-style tourney now - the CBI.

meh, i think the same thing would have happened if they had gone to the NCAAs and won just a game that year.

fyi, espn has A&M on the second four out now...ahead of k-state. if they beat iowa state and colorado, they should be in. if they beat mizzou i think they are a lock. if they win the next two and win a round in the big 12 tourney i think they are a lock.

Rivals had oklahoma state in on their bracket, which makes absolutely no sense. Their best out of conference win is against Siena. At least they're recognizing the big 12 as getting 5 teams in now.

We need those 2 wins no matter what. Finish the season with 6 straight conf. wins and a quality win against a top 20 opponent. Top that off with a tourney win and we get our bid.

I think they only need 1 tourney win. They'll probably be in if they win the last 2 conf. games, but I won't complain if they decide to win 2 tourney games as well. Beating Mizzou will give them another win against an rpi top 50 school, which I think puts them at 5-5 against said schools. Their rpi and sos are both in the top 40.

None of this matters if they don't win out, so hopefully they end the week on top.
