You shouldn't be locked up cause you cheated on your wife. You're just a classless person with no integrity.
ok i dont know if your just being a kobe-hater, but if you genuinely believe thi you are a fundamentalist psycho.
the guy had sex with a female. and because it was a technical violation of some supers ious spiritual code you think he SHOULD BE LOCKED UP IN PRISON???
you do realise that this would mean the imprisonment of millions of americans dont you?
hahaah this is only one step away from the Inquisition hhaha
You shouldn't be locked up cause you cheated on your wife. You're just a classless person with no integrity.
Why are vows so important? Why is marriage so important in this discussion. Marriage is a created ins ution, not a natural one. In fact, manogamy is against the norm in the animal kingdom, of which humans as a species belong.
Furthermore, as a person who's been with the same girl for 5 years and is raising a 2 year old and 5 month old whom I absolutely adore and love more than live itself, why do I need some man in a robe (be it a priest or judge) telling me that my relationship is somehow more special because a piece of paper says so?
Back to Kobe, you see, people make mistakes. Even you, who chastize Kobe have made mistakes. No man is within sin (if you want to talk religiously namely christianity for a bit).
Not even Jesus himself was without sin (the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" bit) and he was the supposed son of God.
Plus, the true christian thing to do is to not judge your fellow man (that's God's job) and to love your fellow man and embrace his differences.
No bag...let me reiterate what I put on here earlier...This is in the State Laws of Colorado...I'll copy and paste so you can read.
Colorado Law 18-6-501 - Adultery. "Any sexual intercourse by a married person other than with that person's spouse is adultery, which is prohibited."
Now..in case your mind doesn't comprehend this, it means that adultery (cheating on your wife, which Kobe did..he admits it) is against the law in the state of Colorado. It's not about spirituality..it's about breaking the law. If you think he SHOULDN'T be punished for breaking Colorado law, you're as bad as all the people who think celebrities should get away with everything because of who they are.
You should if it's against the law in that state...
You don't need a man in a robe to say your relationship is more special...but he chose to. Yes..people make mistakes..but it's a LAW in the state of Colorado..how many times am I going to have to say this. It's not about spirituality..it's about breaking the law. Kobe broke the law in Colorado when he cheated on his wife. Breaking the law = punishment...otherwise we have chaos..
I'm here to talk midrange j's and bad coaching decisions. Take this garbage to The Club.
Thank you...I just think that it's a huge deal to say "I Do" you don't do it on a whim..you do it when you know that's the person you want to spend your life with.
understand...I apologize...this isn't about basketball..just frustrates me when people say "all he did was have sex with the chick" when he cheated on his wife and broke a state law.
I hope..for the sake of women everywhere..that you never get married...now...off that subject...back to basketball.
neither was OJ
How is it unbelievable? Marriage isn't some sacred right, but rather, some created alliance. Key word CREATED. Men created marriage not God. That's a simple fact supported by thousands of years of recorded history.
Besides, if you want to hit on the "God" aspect, what do you say to the people who were married by a judge instead of a priest? Is there marriage somehow less sacred because of it.
Fact is, in Texas at least, you can get an informal marriage license that gives you all the legal protections marriage, costs half as much as a marriage license and is less stressful if you up in picking a mate because humans tend to make mistakes.
Kobe is a human being, and humans aren't infallible no matter what the Catholic church or the Pope think about himself. Humans make mistakes. Humans make errors in judgement. Kobe made an error in judgement. Get over it and yourself.
Now, let's get back to talking ball and if you want to criticize Kobe, criticize the player.
Sodomy was illegal in Texas up until a few years ago. How many people here have ed a person in the ass? Should they all have been arrested?
And as much as everyone hates OJ, you can't call him a murderer. There's this cons utional right called "innocent until proven guilty". Like man, it has it's flaws because it was created by man.
But overall, it's generally a good protection to have.
I don't have a problem with getting back to ball, but you continue to duck the fact that adultery is against the law in Colorado. He took the oath..whether or not you think marriage is better or worse than not being married, Kobe did get married. And he broke the state law. So..if someone breaks a law, we can just say "they're a human being, they make mistakes" and that's ok? Bull . And don't tell me to get over myself...I'm just stating a fact. He broke a state law..period. And you're saying that's ok, because he's a human being.
The key word here is WAS. It still IS illegal to commit adultery in Colorado. If you break a law...you break a law...I don't get it...if I go punch someone in the face, and get sued for assault, it's a fact...I assaulted the dude..I'm not going to go in front of court and say "I'm a human..I make mistakes..this is a bad law." I'm going to man up and say "I did it..it was wrong..I broke a law.." All you're doing is saying it's ok for him to duck a law.
Here are some laws out there that I'm sure have been broken at one time or another.
http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...on_record.htmlDuring the 6th Century, it was customary to congratulate people who sneezed because it was thought that they were expelling evil from their bodies. During the great plague of Europe, the Pope passed a law to say "God bless you" to one who sneezed.
There still are some weird laws on the books. In Washington state, it is against the law to boast that one's parents are rich. In Maryland, it's illegal to play Randy Newman's "Short People" on the radio. In Alabama it is illegal to play Dominoes on Sunday. And in Minneapolis, double-parkers can be put on a chain gang.
In 1313, King Edward II enacted that "You are forbidden from dying in parliament."
An old statute in Kentucky states that men who push their wives out of bed for inflicting their cold toes on them can be fined or jailed for a week. A 100-year-old law in Willowdale, Oregon makes it illegal to swear during sex. An odd law in Minnesota makes it illegal to hang male and female underwear on the same washing line. In Melbourne, Australia it is illegal for men to parade in strapless dresses - but they are allowed to cross-dress in anything with sleeves.
An old law in Russia allows a police officer to "beat a peeping tom soundly." In Texas, two categories of men are exempt from peeping tom charges: men over 50 and men with only one eye.
A pregnant woman can urinate anywhere she wishes, including a policeman's helmet, according to a London local by-law. But in Vermont, women require their husbands permission to wear false teeth.
In Virginia, horses of more than one year old are prohibited in a place of worship. In Tennessee, shooting any game other than whales from a moving automobile is against the law. In Normal, Oklahoma you could be sent to prison for "making an ugly face at a dog."
Try reading some of these.
Good god..and you're comparing these to marriage. Come on man..once again..just because you don't believe in the sanc y of marriage, or the laws of marriage in Colorado, doesn't mean nobody does. Let's get back to ball..this is going nowhere...we just need to agree to disagree...deal?
This is not a Kobe thread!....but I still think he's a rapist.![]()
Well man..you just gotta make sure she's the right one. I know it's hard..but the reason that marriage worked back then and doesn't now it's because it's work. People have problems, they argue, and they take the easy way out. It's one word..W. O. R. K. If you're not willing to work, don't try. If you are, and you love her..go for it...now that Dr. Phil is out of the building..let's talk about basketball, shall we?
spursfan092120 YOU ARE RIGHT ON!! 100% correct. Let these other idiots tear apart marriage -good luck with their crappy relationships. I am happily married have been for years and so have my parents and my spouses parents. Marriage rocks when you're with the right person and treat it with respect. Good luck to the lost souls who spew venom on the sanc y of marriage. I'm not saying anything else, I'm going back to Basketball.![]()
you're welcome man.
Marriage today is no more than a state sanctioned union between two people. Without that piece of paper that says "Marriage License", it ain't valid.
What, exactly, is authentic about that?
The original ideals behind the practice of marriage are long, long gone.
With that being said, Kobe Bryant made vows to love, honor and cherish, forsake all others, etc. I don't believe Bryant raped the young woman. But he did trash his commitment to his wife. That is the reason why he shouldn't be held up as a role model. Yes I understand that he is only human and people make mistakes. I get that. But when you're in the public eye you better understand that any questionable thing you do could get out and give you a black eye. With that knowledge on the brain, it's up to those in the public eye to be more careful.
