I used to be a Farmar apologist, but his play has gotten worse, or so it seems. During last nights game, he had a string of three consecutive turnovers - all were bad passes...er...horrible passes. He has not done anything, as of now, to increase his stock on this team.
It would be beneficial to start playing Brown and bench Farmar. He is in the final year of his contract, you would expect that he would be putting forth the maximum amount of effort possible to earn a spot on this team for next season, as well as some more do-re-mi.
Does everyone remember when Donovan McNabb was benched this past season? He cleared his head and came back playing some of the freshest, cleanest football of his career. Benching Farmar may allow the dude to calm his mind and allow him to see what's going on in the NBA, and should, be doing better.

But Farmer has shown he isn't a bad player. I would think that getting a permanent starting position would make him step up his game to become more consistent. I think he is more than qualified to start for the Lakers.
Farmar will be ok. He needs to get stronger over the summer, become a thug, and sharpen up that jumper. If he can develop a mid-range game ala Steve Nash, and get stronger for defense, he will can be a solid PG for the Lakers.
I'm actually intrigued at what Shannon Brown can do to improve his game during the summer. He's a young PG who is hungry, athletic, loves to play defense and a big guard that Jackson likes. He needs to work on his jumper over the summer, and his handles going into training camp. Same goes for 6'9 Sun Yue.
The Lakers have young players with talent and potential that they are developing and it's up to these players to respond to the opportunity given to them. Nobody will be able to replace the heart and clutch of the aging Fisher but if things go according to plan, they will be fine. But they will keep their eyes open.

Farmar is not the future. At least not in the triangle offense. His game is better suited in a more uptempo offense.
The Lakers will likely try and deal him over the summer. As far as getting a replacement the Lakers will have to see if they can draft someone or find a vet PG on the market who can spell Fisher. Not the biggest worry IMHO, that will be resiging Odom and Ariza.
How about the chinese guy you drafted?
A good PG is a luxury for a triangle offense. You just need a good shooter.

I haven't seen a lot of him but for what I have seen, I'm not impressed. Looks kind of soft to me and I hate softness but like I said I haven't seen a lot of him.
As for Farmar, I don't think he will be good enough to run this team. He's too small for Phil's liking. From what I got from the article the lakers want to move Fish to bench maybe as soon as next season. I don't know how long Phil will be around but I would prefer to get him a guard that can run his system and I don't think Farmar is that guard. I wouldn't have a problem with him trading Farmar and signing a vet for a couple of years and draft a PG for the future.
Dr. Buss said he does not give a about the luxury tax. If the Lakers win the le or are close enough to satisfy him, I believe he will do whatever he needs to do to sign those guys.

That couldn't be further from the truth.....the PG's who have won a ring with PJ are some of the most underrated and under appreciated players. Paxson, Harper, Fisher and Hunter did a lot more for that offense than shooting.
More like they hide the weaknesses of their PGs. Fisher got overpaid in Golden State, I believe.
Sergio Lull with Real Madrid. He's a baller and should be there when the Lakers draft. Draft express has him going to the Lakers with the 9th pick in the second round but I doubt he'll last that long. I haven't been watching the Euroleague lately but the games I have watched he's looked real good. Very athletic a good shooter and can get to the basket. His defense is also good, uses his athletic ability well. Lacks strength like most youngsters but that's something that can be fixed. If we don't trade up for a PG I like him where we are picking. Lakers will definitely draft a PG in this draft. Farmar is not the answer.
Even though the Lakers run the triangle there are still many times that they don't. A true PG that can shoot and play D (I know not easy to find) is a big time need.
Don't worry. I'm sure that somehow there will be a fantastic Gasol-like trade (wink, wink) that benefits the Lakers.
