I just want him out of a Spurs uniform. We need somebody mentally tough. Sorry Bonner fans, it's just my opinion.
lol, fans like you make me sick. Bonner has done all that he's asked for this season. It just isn't enough and nothing will ever be enough for bandwagoners like yourself, not a player doing his best, not 4 championships, nothing.

    sorry bandwagoner, just my opinion.

What the are you talking about?? You're busting my balls and calling me a bandwagon fan because I think Bonner is mentally weak? You are the pathetic one. Since when does posting an opinion on a player's mental toughness equate with being a bandwagon fan? I thought only Laker assholes threw insults at people for no apparent reason, but I was wrong.

I happen to think we can do better than Bonner and if you don't like my opinion tough ing . You are seriously delusional to judge me as a bandwagon fan because I think Bonner is mentally weak. He is mentally weak. He never guts it out when it counts and I hope we don't have to depend on him for clutch shots. You can continue kissing his ass but I call it like I see it. And, until he shows otherwise, I stand by my opinion.

I was not comparing sports to politics, but rather predictable human psychology to predictable human psychology.
Whatever a person is engaged in: sports, politics, talking with friends, whatever; his thought process, reasoning (or lack thereof), decision-making factors, level of ignorance, etc. are going to be mostly the same.

so back on topic, you derive your opinion of Bonner with seemingly complete disregard for the facts, how am I supposed to argue against that?

edit: oh and may I ask, did you vote for Obama?

It's not just about outscore opponets,it is about holding your opponent to score less points tham you by playing Defense and getting rebounds.
Most teams that just tried to outscore others(like D'antony's or Nelly's teams)usually come up short in the playoffs.
but "holding your opponent to score less points tham you by playing Defense and getting rebounds." is part of "outscoring" and therefore part of what Bonner is bringing to the team
it is necessary when you are 6.10 and play Center.
This is in the NBA rulebook? what about that Kukoc guy? didn't he play some "Center" for the bulls
......When his 3s are falling, otherwise we suck. And his 3s haven't been falling lately.
actually his +/- has been holding up even in his shooting slump, but yeah, his role is to hit shots and play D, if he can't hit shots he is of no use, but he isn't all of a sudden going to forget how to shoot

    That tells you 3 things:
1-Bonner plays always with the best spurs.
2-Manu plays always with the ties spurs
2-Udoka doesn't play much at all.
1-I already explained this to another poster, how are his numbers surpassing them if he's only riding their coattails? when he's on with the starters, his numbers will be the same as theirs. it is when they are on without him that their numbers go down, and when he is on without them that his are going up.
2-Manu also plays against the opponent's " ties" players, his numbers should be through the roof
3-yeah but more then you might think
But that stat alone wont tell you if the player is good enough or not.
In Bonner's case the stats you need to look at are:
    His points
    His rebounds
    His Blocks
and also you should look at the opponent's offensive rebounds and points in the paint.
If you need more examples let me know.
you are stuck on simple stats, thinking that only points, blocks, and rebounds help a team. this is not fantasy basketball
we have plenty of scorers, as long as Bonner is shooting when he is supposed to, we don't need any more points out of him. if his rebounding was actually poor, we would be seeing opponents stealing rebounds from him, this hasn't been an issue.

need I remind you that he is a ROLE PLAYER making 1/3rd of what manu makes, 1/6th of TD, and yet no one has had a more positive effect on the team's performance this year.
but no, you people still about him as if he's the only think holding us back. what has Manu done for his 10 mil? his stats are terrible in almost every category relative to what is expected of him, and yet he's our glorified star and savior

If you're gonna bash The Bonner, just make sure not to post any personal information anywhere on the Internets, because he will find you and run you over with his Grand Prix.

    Wow, I can't believe you're comparing a SG-SF with a Center.
Tony Kukoc was a perimetral player dude, not a PF or C.
    Get your facts together first.
feel free to use that as an excuse to ignore the substance of my post
that was merely a passing example of a 6-11 3 point shooter who could and did line up at C and was successful. just trying to break your notion that every big man has to be a 20-10 guy with low post moves.

frankly, a 20-10 guy or the like is easier to find than a guy who is cheap, plays a role, has no baggage or ego problems, and helps the team at an +8PPG rate.

If Bonner plays most of his minutes with BOTH Duncan and Parker in the game his numbers will be better than either Duncan or Parker since they play more minutes without both Parker and Duncan in the game.

Another stat to look at is how do the spurs numbers look with both Parker and Duncan in the game and what % of minutes does Bonner play with both Parker and Duncan in the game as compared to how the % of minutes Duncan and Parker play without the other in the game.

Not many 20-10 guys in the league. Not easy at all to land one since most teams covet bigs.

I'm not asking for a 20-10 guy. But we could use a big who can actually play though and make some stops in the paint.KT and Gooden getting Bonner's minutes would be just fine to me at this point.
You think Gooden's better than Bonner at rotating? He's not, I assure you. Bonner, defensively, is a few steps ahead of Gooden.

wow, my apologies for making this thread..

I was just trying to work my magic that I pulled out with the Finley thread that led to his hot streak..

I'm sorry for those that had to read this, I really am..I'm sorry for offending you..I will have to go through years of therapy for this, I can't believe I wrote good things about Bonner..

, I still like Matt Bonner. He had a good start with his aggressiveness, but faded quickly. Not good. But he's not the only problem. Too many guys who aren't great defenders are getting big minutes and bad assignments.

you and your bandwagoning buddies calling bonner out for basically his first real playoff game are s and haters. Don't give the guy a break or wait to judge him on the entire body of work once these playoffs are done.

Liking Matt Bonner personally has nothing to do with the fact that he sucked tonight just like he's been sucking the latter part of this season. He contributed absolutely nothing tonight and played heavy minutes. I just don't understand Pop and it's not Bonner's fault, Pop's the one who keeps calling his number.

True, but some people around here act as if he sweats HIV. He's a good guy and he does what is asked of him. He's just not extremely talented. I still think he will have a big game.

Thanks Matty. No one knew you were going to choke in the playoffs. No one knew your inability to board would come back to haunt. No one knew your going to flop on Dampier and then get dunked on. I wasn't yelling "Don't Flop! Don't Flop!". I didn't call you a "M!@#!@! 12#!@#!@ $#%#$%".
