So sorry, my bad. I forgot that Hill was the Ultimate and Perfect, mistake free Rookie. The most perfect Rookie to ever play in the NBA. The Rookie who is now teaching Pop all about how basketball should be played in the NBA. The same Rookie who is playing 48 minutes a night without nary a breather from the likes of Parker and Mason. The Rookie who apparently Manufan909 thinks will be a unanimous pick as ROOKIE OF THE YEAR and will become Pop's replacement as the Spurs Head Coach next season so he can then teach all the incoming Rookies how to play Totally MISTAKE Free basketball.

    Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh...!
Ha, asshole. It was more of a rhetorical "why Pop why!?" post, but whatevz I bet I worded it wrong. Since you took it personally, let me ask you; what was it exactly about Hill's game/at ude/effort/learning curve/etc that caused Pop to relegate him to defensive stopper, then mister 4th quarter, and now backup to JV?

Let me be clear, I'm neither in Senors "Hills growth is being stunted, confidence destroyed" , nor Kace's "he's a rook, so Pop wanted no pressure on him to end his first NBA season" group of thinking. I am somewhere in between. I do believe his development is somewhat being halted, and that maybe Pop doesn't want to risk anything by playing him in pressure situations. I am more in line with the term coined on ST, Phenophobia. I wish Pop wuld take the TP approach to Hill, instead of not playing him so he doesn't fail, because he also won't learn thru experience. He'll just see his coach playing an SG and a way, WAY over the hill vet instead of him to end the season, when he did so well for a majority of it.

I doubt Hill is so confident that he knows he is a better PG than both, but i know it's obvious to him he can finish better than both combined, pass as well as either, can drive and dish as well or better, defend much better than both, rebound better than both combined, and bring more athleticism, and youth than both combined x5.

At least JV is out of the rotation, but Hill should get one last chance to run the 2nd unit, especially now that there will be no star SGs to defer to, and he can play alongside one or both of Gooden/Bowen. I get that Ime provides something unique, but instead of him getting 27 mins, how about if Pop gave Ime 15, Hill 15, and let Mason stay at SG? Or just give Hill only backup PG minutes, which should only be around 8-20. I'd want his minimum minutes to be higher, but I'll take what I can get.

And I know Pop is a great coach, but he isn't perfect in every way. Keep in mind he could possibly be wrong about how he has handled Hill for the last several weeks.

We haven't. The only report of his signing is from a D-League blog. His source may have been the same Toro broadcast that Bruno reported. If he is to be signed, the announcement will be in connection with the waiver of one of the 15 players currently under contract.

Malik had his chance and they told him he needs to work on his jump shot (which was pretty obvious in the minutes he played on the Spurs).

    I don't see that as a snub.

Hopefully he has a strong work ethic and will be able to crack the rotation next year.

Technically, injury exceptions are granted for players who will be out the remainder of the season, but with only a handful of regular season games left, I just don't see that being approved. The Rockets don't even have one for TMac, IIRC.

I can't say it is any more reliable these days than in the past.

He likes it. I just don't think he should do it as much as he does -- but as I said, he's adding a little variety to his drives which has been an improvement.

Good...I think he'd be a good addition, considering we need more penetration to get some more open looks from outside.

No they're not. A lot of teams have players out for the season and no team that I know of has an injury exception. The rule used to be that you needed to have four players out for the season and then they'd grant you an extra spot on the injured list so that a team could field a complete 12-man roster.

I'm not sure what the official rule is now after the injured list was discontinued but I'm assuming something similar.

ESPN 1250's Chris Duel just reported that it's official, Spurs sign Marcus Williams.

Looking for a link, but nothing on the Spurs home page or ESPN 1250 home page yet.
