We sentenced a Japanese officer 15 years hard labor for doing it in World War II.
We court martialled US soldiers for doing it in two wars.
We sentenced US sheriffs and deputies to prison sentences for doing it.

Except in this case, if we investigate and find something, it will be a benefit to getting these sticks out of office, as opposed to letting the world's financial makeup collapse by not bailing out the banks (which I am ideologically opposed to as well.)
