is it just me or has the quality of enchiladas in the SA area gone down a lot in the last 5-7 years?

I'm not even sure who has the best any more. Even Blanco Cafe has disappointed me lately.

Perico's is easily my favorite spot for Mexican food but Im getting burned out.

who's currently #1 for enchiladas?

my guess is it's Mendez. i've never tried their enchiladas, but everything else i've tried is great. they have about 10 tables.

You can get great enchiladas in just about anyone of those little hole-in-the-wall places where the waitresses don't even speak English. Those places are too small to have a name half the time, but they always have the best food.

Yeah, there is this little place off of West Ave near Bitters next to Boston Subworks that has great food.

What's the difference? As far as I can tell, Tex-Mex enchiladas are different only in not having the red chile in the guisada. I like them both ways though.

The guisada is the difference. That is what makes it tex mex. Real mexican enchiladas have only red chile sauce.
