Pop will retire as head coach soon after Duncan retires. Pop has an appreciation that's there's a life out there other than basketball.
Let PJ be an assistant at any time. Bud IMHO, is the heir apparent. Spurs reward loyalty and he has more than payed his dues if another team doesn't try to nab him before.
AJ is a great emotional motivated passionate coach but his players eventually start to tune out and he becomes ineffective. A "Little General" goes a long way. If a Spurs coaching position, he'll need to realize this. It's a big weakness of AJ's. He ends up rubbing people the wrong way and alienating them and the team. When that happens, it's over. He's one Spur's player who never got over himself and for some that's not a bad thing either.
What gets lost here I think is that Spurs have had their finest decade because of same coaching/system continuity. Teams that play musical chairs with coaches never do well long term. That's why I favor Bud for the long term. I think RC and Mr. Holt understand this as well.
