please don't go starting a load of threads
we need a sg that can dribble, dunk, and also play d tony allen will be perfect for his spot

allen>mason
just wait got 2more in short
we played close games all year winning wit offense its tyme 2 get back to playing defense trade mason no dribbling ass cant finish a fast break ass cause he is to slow ass for someone who can defend and at least give us ten points a game cause mason went scoreless twice against dallas in the playoffs
More like "why we should not let people with less than 100 posts start topics"
But I agree about winning close games all year with offense, would be better with stops.
I personally prefer Hill to either of them.
Other than the dunking work, Tony Allen doesn't do any job better over Mason. Mason might have the best dribbling skills in the group of shooting guards, and his defensive level is also above TA's by tens of feet. Even though his name is Tony Allen, he is not even half as good as either Ray Allen or Tony Longoria.
Rogue,
Who is the female in your sig?
Thats Becky Hammon.![]()
we should certainly shop him around as trade bait and see if we can possibly get a good deal involving him.
he does ONLY ONE thing, and that is shoot spot up 3's. if we can get a decent slasher who can get to the rim for him, DO IT.
Mason is a legit SG who's pros outweigh cons IMO, what we need is one more slasher at the 3 who can open the court more to allow Mason more open looks.
Apparently a lot of people don't understand how the Spurs system works..we need role playing shooters like Mason, he's one of the best shooters in the NBA..
the SF position should be our slasher..
Mason was clearly playing very well for us until the PG experiment..it wasn't a coincidence..
Rouge,
I love your photoshopping skills. Becky is chucking the deuce, and you chopped off the index finger. Gotta fix the discoloration halo. Dead give away.
Agrred with everything.
Obviously some people are forgetting all the games Mason won for us this past season with his "boring" shooting. The guy is clutch, he just didn't have a good playoff outing, but he has exceeded my expectations since we acquired him and I think he won't have to carry as much as a load as he did early this past season. He is a shooting guard, people shouldn't expect him to have mad, crazy ball handling skills. geez.
If Pop continues to play him as a backup PG, then by all means trade him. If they play him at his natural position, he's one of the most valuable bench players in the League.
This makes me miss poop threads.
I agree with this whole heartedly. When Mason is on the floor, you need a slasher aside from the PG position. That could really frustrate defenses.
Not quite sold yet on his defense. Maybe we can see it next year if he remains.
lol you funny
no, not tony allen. i agree with you though. fin and mason are the same type of player so it would be nice if we could throw another type of sg at the other teams defense.
Once and for all, lets simplify all of the repeating of ideas and thoughts.
For the Spurs:
Anyone on the team is open for trade except for Duncan because the goal is to get another ring out of him before he retires in 2012. If the right deal comes along, that puts this team in a better spot to contend the Spurs would look at it.
The key is to see what makes sense and to recognize that some deals would be more complicated, but that depends on the player (TP would require more for the Spurs to trade him than Mason...)
Trading for players that help in the future are out because the Spurs are in win now mode. I am not saying the Spurs will only sign vets, but I mean they are not focusing on rebuilding from scratch right now and if a player they sign can help them win now, winning in the future is secondary.
Making lateral moves is out. Making moves that significantly increase payroll are out unless a rare deal comes along and you get gifted a super star that is worth the money. The FO will not take on a lot more money to make the team a little bit better.
Look at why both teams would do a deal in the trade. Use logic and the rules and regulations of the CBA.
