it's easier to get an impact SG in the draft than it is to get an established center who can guard Dwight Howard. The Cavs aren't done making moves. They will draft a wingman tonight, they can't draft a Hall of Fame center. Courtney Lee is a prime example of what you can get in the draft
I think DHo was only half of the problem. Having two talented, but undersized guards that couldn't defend the perimeter against taller guys like Hedo and Rashard was the other half. And Shaq being able to guard DHo is a big question mark in my mind. It's not clear cut at all.
Let me point out that my disagreement is not that Shaq is an improvement over the departed players. What I contend is that they could have done better with that money.

Mike Brown is still the problem in Cleveland. Even with Shaq I don't think they can win it all.

As for Phoenix...I can't think of a single good move Kerr has made since taking over. Stoudemire will probably be traded for a 2nd round pick today.
Mike Brown should... probably... be better coaching next year, if he learns from this year.

This draft sucks for me as a Celtics fan... I have nothing to look forward to. The 58th pick? Ooh whoopie.

That's exactly it. And that's a big IF at this point in time.

Anyone who thinks this is a bad trade for Cleveland has some serious issues. Congrats on the trade Thunder Dan.
is there the same hype in Phoenix for Ben Wallace as there is here for Shaq? Is there a line at the team shop for Wallace jerseys?

If you're into winning popularity contests, and turning into the winless Phoenix Suns of the last 5 years or so, go right ahead.

This is a low risk, high reward trade for the Cavs. Good move, though it would have been much more useful back at the trading deadline.

No....all there is is a group of idiots that still think of Ben Wallace as the Detroit Ben Wallace that talk about how much he'll improve their defense. But I think you know the answer to this question.

No, but he can be worse than McDyess + RIP Hamilton. Or Rasheed +Prince, etc etc etc

You seem to be more interested in what the hype is, and how many new jerseys he's going to sell... I'm more intrigued to see what he has left in the tank playing basketball...

Ben actually can help your defense. He is still a good defender, but he can only play 20 minutes a game and be affective. The problem is though he might not even want to play anymore.

Ben Wallace's one on one post defense is no better than Shaq's these days.

if the cavs were to be a lottery team it was 2007 when they were starting sasha, larry hughes and daniel gibson at times in the playoffs. Not only did they make the playoffs, but they won the ec. No team with lebron will be a lottery team unless he gets hurt.
    agreed!

hey Thunder Dan... is it true that the Cavs are interested in possibly going after T-Mac? I've heard rumors. Just wanted to see what you have heard of in the Cleveland area.

Why would Cleveland ever want T-Mac? I don't think the have enough salary to dump for his contract anyways.

Cavaliers still need a PF who can stretch the floor (Sheed, Troy Murphy?) a big wing player, and a backup PG. I haven't heard anything about T-Mac.

gives them a 2 guard with size, defensive ability, scoring ability, passing ability, and he is hungry as anyone to win a le. plus, with Lebron there, his job wont be as physically taxing, and he can play a few less minutes and not have to exert so much. i think he would be perfect over there.

lol imagine if they started next year with a lineup of...

    Mo Williams
    Tracy McGrady
    Lebron James
    Rasheed Wallace
    Shaquille O'Neal

thats just a cluster of star names. and the thing about that team, is no one at this point in their careers are really greedy for shots. i think they would mesh better than some people would think.

McGrady or not, they need to find a way to take some of the burden off Delonte's shoulders. He was playing 40-plus minutes in the Playoffs because they didn't have another ballhandler aside from him and Mo and he was guarding guys who were 6-7 inches taller than him. Delonte is a warrior, but they were asking a LOT from him.

Best case, they find a taller two and move Delonte to the bench as the sixth man. He'd be a beast in that role.

Purgatory is warmer than Cleveland in January.

Only problem is T-Mac is not expected to be healthy until February, and he is coming off microfracture surgery. I doubt he could help Cleveland any.
