I totally appreciate what Finley has done for the Spurs and I don't hate on the guy. There is NO QUESTION that he has won the Spurs big games and has had key contributions. However he is definitely getting long in the tooth and is a defensive liability. I just want Pop to play him less minutes and surely that is going to happen this year with RJ and all the new blood.

Bonner just is not the kind of player who is identified with the word 'clutch.' His PO performance was atrocious and he can't guard anyone. Bonner + Finley on floor together = lots of grins for the opponent. In a more limited role, I'm okay with him on the team. If there is a good trade out there using these two fine shooters who have outstanding character and team first at ude, then thanks for the memories.

That Finley is a class act is well do ented. Nothing I have heard about Booner suggest he is not a team player either. Whether they stay with the Silver and Black next season remains in question. Whatever the future holds for them, I sincerely appreciate their efforts for the Spurs and wish them well. Let's show a level of class commensurate with our great franchise and not let our unsatiable lust for even more talent on the roster undermine that in the weeks that come.
I, for one, don't have a problem with them. As long as the minutes they log are insignificant. Once they start averaging way too many minutes is when fans really start getting upset. However, there will always be people who complain about a player.
Point is, talking about them like they are trash to be discarded, rather than solid human beings, is not cool.

I don't think anybody (other than the odd troll) have claimed they're anything but solid human beings.

That said, I honestly believe that what they can provide for our team as players *IS* trash that needs to be discarded.

Bonner has his flaws, and +/- isn't the be-all stat, but you are talking about the Spurs +/- leader. Bonner could not lead the team in +/- and not be a good Spur team player.

Personally, I'd have Bonner start at C, with McDyess on the bench, but have McDyess put in more minutes. That makes for a lesser starting lineup, but a better bench, and a better team.

The fourth big on the Spurs still probably will get 16-20 minutes a night. Are people comfortable with Bonner playing that many minutes?

Given the money they spent on him, the fourth big could end up being Haislip... or even Mahinmi. Who can judge these things at this stage?

Depends on the matchup, but in most cases, sure. There are going to be plenty of games where Bonner's 3 point shooting will really spread the floor and open things up for everyone else. If Bonner's not hitting his 3's, go with someone else. Same for Finley. Last year if Bonner and Finley were off, the Spurs were screwed. With the roster upgrades the Spurs don't have to depend on those guys nearly as much and there's plenty of other options.

If the Spurs can move those 2 for something better, great, I'm all for it. If not, fine, there are significantly reduced roles for them to fill.

I don't have a problem with it if they are the right minutes. I think Bonner can be of value - a two headed monster of Blair and Bonner can be really attractive, utilizing each in the situation they both thrive in.

I don't have much use for Finley. I wanted him to retire.

I still support Bonner. I think it would be a mistake to get rid of him for nothing. If there is a trade out there that improves the team, great.

Nothing personal, but I don't want either back on this team. And I'm sure many fans agree, as well as maybe some coaches and players.

I expect Bonner to be useless competing for playing time with other players. He his pants when Drew Gooden rolled into town. How is he going to handle competing with Blair and Dice, and as well as Hairlip, Ian, and possibly Gist. Let's just trade him and get what we can. Same for Finely. Hopefully we can somehow magically get draft picks out a deal.

Finley in his hey-day was great. I wouldnt mind seeing him with a 9-12 spot

I will have a big problem if we see Bonner playing center or power forward again. Dude is a SF, enough with the kick-out bs

I'll give props to Finley. He worked his ass of these last few years to make himself into a respectable defensive player and he has hit some big shots.

After Bonner ran and hid during the playoffs, no soup for him.
