It's the type of car that has no [practical] place here in America. In Germany, you'll see those things going 155 MPH on the autobahns. It's a luxury crusier.

yeah, four door sports cars really have no place in Germany either. Those MB torque monsters have ridiculous specs yet under perform. (comparing to its specs not other cars) i see no reason one would get a v-12 grocery getter. The only people that would race an AMG S are teenage boys that took out their dads car without permission, and thats not even real racing is street racing which is impractical also. Its useless having all that under the hood really, just more parts that can up. It reminds me of when i first got my car, i put about 5 grand into a brand new car. And after all that i could have just gotten a faster sportier lighter coupe, thats when i had my epiphany, stop wasting start saving. Hp without performance is like have a big while being castrated, no matter how big it is you cant use it for half of what its meant for

PS my 25k japanese fwd 4door can get to cruise on 135 no problem no redlining, so 155 ain't a big deal for 100k more.

Well, you need to wake up and smell the HP. It's rated at 612 PS, about 603 HP. They only top out at 155 MPH because of their electronic speed regulation that is factory set to 250 KPH. They are not harming the engine in any way like you do running at redline, it can do that everyday, for years. Remove the speed regulation, and they likely have the power to top 200 MPH.

It would be a great car to have commuting in Germany. When I lived there, I had a 1977 Firebird that could pass those cars. It topped out somewhere between 160 MPH and 170 MPH. My commute between cities was rather short, normally cruising at about 130 MPH. Wish I had that comfortable of a car when I took long cruises across Germany.

Myself, I would buy the BMW 7 or 8 series with their 6 liter V12 before the Mercedes.

why do i feel like you are trying to teach me something i know, the fact is the car is a heavy ass, speed regulated car, most of the people who buy it drive it less that 6k a years, let alone have work done to it. i rather buy a 3 years old 120k msrp, 15k ODO, 911 turbo for 70k , At least specs and performance match.

Im saying the car has no real purpose to have AMG work done on it.

and btw my family sedan does 135 , steady no redline, so nothing go reread the post, and it wont harm the engine

ok....let's end this thread. we bought the car because my wife and kid spend time together, going from place to place. I wanted them to have a car that could get them out of trouble. it's fast, it's heavy.......it's practically bullet proof.

she no longer feels the need for this type of vehicle. that is why i'm driving it now. i still have my old car.......it is a 1999 C280 with 153K miles......that will be his first car when he turns 16........unless he turns into a head.

I drove a V-12 Benz…What a great car…I guess the V-12’s have built in counter balancing because opposing pistons are firing at the same time & make that huge engine vibration free…Smoothest engine ever made…Trade you a 454 Suburban for it straight up…Maybe I will throw in a gas card….PM me if sounds like a good trade...

you know, the gas mileage sucks. i don't have any personal mechanical skills.......but i can tell you this. when those 2 cylinders were mis-firing.....we truely thought the car was going to explode. the only time i've ever seen a car shake like that was on a cartoon.
