If I was Dware I would demand a change in coaching and QB personnel before I re-signed.
Sadly, to an extent, this is true.
From what I have seen in my limited time on this forum, you are one of the good ones samikeyp.
I have a guy I went to high school with that I see occasionally and he is a die hard Cowboys fan. He is easy to talk football with because he is very objective and honest. I don't have to listen the same old, "We rule and the Texans suck ass...it will always be this way so deal with it." We can relate to each other and talk about team needs without all the nonsense.
Thanks.
Yeah, I always thought it was pointless to go all "We're #1" when A. You're not playing and B. the team is not #1. I think that is why I detest the term "homer" so much. You can be a passionate, loyal fan and still be objective.
Ok, fair enough. I hate the Cowboys for numerous reasons. But if I had to pick one big reason I would say that I hate them because they are and have been the biggest impediment to San Antonio getting its own NFL team for several decades. I know that if the Cowboys were not so popular and Jerry Jones not so influential that San Antonio would have its own NFL team by now. It's just so glaringly obvious that this has been the case for so long that it's absolutely maddening.
And of course for all the reasons so many fans hate them. The whole America's team bs, the fact that they are the media's darlings, the fact that they have historically gotten favorable treatment by officials etc, etc. And of course I am a Redskin fan. Which means it is absolutely mandatory to hate on Dallas.
I have to disagree with the favorable calls by the refs. NFL officiating is pretty good besides, if there was a team that would get it, it wouldn't be Dallas the way JJ has pissed the league off constantly since he got there.
This was the only real reason..and all I needed to hear.![]()
Mr. Ware will be a Cowboy for his entire career. Me and Jerry Jones are willing to bet every dollar we have on that.
samikeyp, how did you think cowboy fans were going to respond to thread called "Official Dallas Cowboys sucks chode thread?"
I can call the players on my favorite team by whatever name I want. If someone started a thread called "Official San Antoino Spurs sucks chode thread" i would start posting stupid posts in that thread to because that is exactly what the thread is.
I am a Die Hard Cowboys fan, just as I am a Die Hard Spurs fan. I understand my expectations for the Cowboys. I understand the first step is to get to playoffs and improve upon last season. I have hope that my team will win it all, just as any fan would have for his favorite team.
So when you start a stupid thread I will respond with stupid posts.
That being said I believe the Cowboys have a great chance of being succesful this season. There are questions:
1. Will Tony Romo return to being a "take care of the Ball" quarterback as he was under Bill Parcells or will he continue to lack discipline?
For the cowboys to be sucessful they need a better showing from Romo. Last season he threw 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He needs to limit that to about 10/11 interceptions and he needs to have around 30 touchdowns. I would take a 3 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio from Romo anyday. If he can do that then, CHECK.
2. Will Roy Williams #11 produce as a Cowboy?
Roy Williams was a very productive Reciever for the Lions early in his career, but he needs to show he can do that for the cowboys. He needs to have at least a season of 1,000 recieving yards and 10 touchdowns and I would be happy with his production.
If so, CHECK.
3. Will the RBs stay healthy?
A big reason the cowboys were unsucessful last season was the injuries to Marion Barber III and Felix Jones. The cowboys need Marion Barber to finish off teams in the 4th qtr. Felix is very important because he brings a change of pace to the game. His speed is unreal. If at least one of them stay healthy then I will feel good about that because tashard choice is a capable back up plan. If they all stay healthy then a big CHECK.
4. Will Wade Phillips be more aggresive now that he is the D coordinator?
The Cowboys are a great Pass rushing team. Why play conservatively like they often did at times last season? For the Cowboys defense to be sucessful they need to be aggresive because it plays to their strengths. Getting to the Qb is the way the Cowboys keep other teams from scoring. The Cowboys don't have the best secondary so you have to make up for that by being aggresive and limiting the amount of time they have to cover WRs and TEs. You have to make the other team choose to throw it to their backs intsead and limit how many yards they get on such plays by containing the RB. If cowboys are more aggresive I believe they can increase the sack totals from 59 to somewhere around 70 sacks in a season which would be impressive. If so, CHECK.
5. December/playoffs?
The biggest question is whether or not the Cowboys can hold up in December and in the playoffs. During the last couple of season, even dating back to Bill Parcells, the cowboys have not been able to do so. How can this change? Well, here is you list of things the cowboys have done this offseason in order to change this:
A. Cutting Terrell Owens. Although, I AM NOT a T.O. hater, I do understand why the cowboys decided to release him. First, i want to say people should not hate on T.O. so much because he has never been a Bad problem off the field. By off the field I mean he has never been a criminal or had any run ins with the law. Back to the point, the cowboys released Owens because his on the field/lockeroom/media antics overshadowed what the team was trying to do. Instead of being completly focused on what the cowboys needed to do they had to answer questions as to what was going on with Owens. That distratction is gone resulting in a more focused team.
B. Emphasis on Special Teams. As the season wears down Special Teams can make a difference in a game. Field position is very important. Having your Special teams perform can result in mistakes not being made when the "stars" of the team are not out there. Special teams can often decide a close game. When you get to the playoffs the games will be close and making a play on special teams, or preventing the other team from making a play of STs can become very important. This offseason the Cowboys have put an emphasis on improving the STs and I think that will help the team come December/Playoffs.
C. Back to Romo being consistent. My first point that Romo needs to take care of the ball will also improve the cowboys chances of performing well late in the season. That is when his numbers have been the worst. I believe the cowboys can change their fortunes by preaching to Romo to take care of the ball. Romo and Jason Garrett have put a emphasis on taking care of the ball this offseason so I believe that can change.
D. RUN THE BALL. When the weather gets rough late in the season you have to run the football. Running the football can help both your offense and your defense. Offensively you take pressure off of Romo and defensively by keeping the defense rested on the sidelines rather that being on the field. Controlling the clock by running the ball should be another emphasis the cowboys preach come Crunch time. If Jason Garrett decides to do that I believe the cowboys will do great things. The Cowboys offensive line was born to run over defenders and shove the ball down the throat of the defense.
If all goes as planned here then, CHECK.
I know these are alot of WHAT IFs, but everyteam has to face similiar questions. It begins in training camp.
I will be in San Antoino to watch Camp and I am very excited for football season to begin. Hopefully the Cowboys can win the Superbowl and the Texas Longhorns can Texas two step it and win the National Championship. I know you have to take it one step at a time Im just tired of all the Haters who start threads like this.
How bout them Cowboys.
Quit stealing articles and not sourcing them you candy ass got. You're like ducks v2.0. Everyone knows you didn't write that bull.
Needed to check in on this one. Full disclosure; I'm a Niner fan so don't hit me with how many les you've won Cowboy fan.

Nice assesment on the upcoming season by the way.![]()
Lol, what, samikey is the only good cowboy fan because he cares not to partake in the monkey poo-slinging you do. Or make fun of you for your limited football knowledge and general iness like the rest of the "bad" Cowboy fans do?![]()
Don't ever call me anything before checking your facts. I wrote that. If you can find what I wrote anywhere else on the internet than I will send you a check worth 10 grand and I have plenty of money to pay you don't worry about that. I wrote that and you can kiss my candy ass. I am a Die Hard Cowboys fan and I am in college getting a degree in Sports Journalism. Exscuse my language, but It just pisses me off when I do something and someone says I didn't. The other day I posted an article from the Dallas Morning News, but I was not trying to claim it as my own.
GO COWBOYS!
You = dumbass
Sincerely,
Cowboy fan for 20+ years
bag...he's actually knowledgeable. Just because you're completely ignorant doesn't mean everyone here is.
Are you a fan of The Rock?![]()
Damn , the world will be a better place as soon as you pull your tongue out of his ass.
I've been a Cowboys fan all my life. I grew up on the Cowboys. I remember sitting on my dad's lap watching the Cowboys play, and then on Thanksgivings when my uncles would come over. All Cowboys, all the time. I've never switched favorite teams, like some people. So this Cowboys fan has always been a Cowboys fan, and will always be a Cowboys fan. I'm relatively new to the forum, so this will be my first NFL season on the forum, but I will post whether the team wins or loses (hopefully more wins). I back my team no matter what, just like I do for the Spurs.
