You jump. I will stay right here backing the San Antonio Spurs.
the Mavs.
that dark stuff on those horses is called dirt, they will get it from being kicked to the curb over and over again. just lay off the pipe man!
I heard Marion is not really liked by his team mates, maybe that's why he's getting around the league so much lately. hmmm..

Marion has only played on 3 different teams in 10 years before becoming a boy in blue, obviously we're not talking about someone who had his footprints in 5 different cities during the same length of span, like Ron Artest. If Marion has kind of unacceptable personality, then how did the Suns tolerate him for so long? Dude just slipped a lot in recent years and his big contract became something no team likes, then it was not anything amazing that he got ping-ponged pretty frequently in these 2 years.
I just heard from somebody who once met Jalen Rose a few years ago when the Suns were in town. She was Pistons fan and knew her basketball and ran into Rose at a club here in SA. I wasn't there, maybe she couldn't hear him well.. who knows. But didn't he want out of Phoenix because of lack of touches?
That picture fails. Mavs beat the spurs in that series.![]()
I don't understand the response to threads like this.
The Mavs are going to be a VERY tough team next year, they could easily finish with a top 3 record in the league, maybe 2nd or 1st when you factor injuries into the account.
They're also going to be a tough out for any team in the playoffs. Kidd passing to Marion will be a very solid combination, and Marion is a great 1-4 defender. I don't understand people that say he's overrated because he hustles, he plays excellent D, and he can explode offensively if he's fed properly. Most teams in the league need a player like him. So what if he can't create his own shot? Iverson creates shots for himself all the time -- and misses them. If Marion can keep his temperament down at being the #2 or 3 option on offense, the Mavs could go a long way in the playoffs.
The hate for Marion is just strange to me. I don't know of another player in the league who plays very solid defense that Spurs fans hate. Bowen can't create his shot either, and we love Brucie.
Top three record in the league and maybe first or second, are you kidding me?????? Lakers, Spurs, Nuggets, possibly Blazers, Celtics, Magic and Cavs will all have a better record even if they do get banged up. You're overrating the Mavs just like you overrated the Cavs last year. The Mavs improved no doubt but adding a 31 Marion who's fallen off a bit and Drew Gooden does in no way make them a top three team in the league, not even the West. Even if Marion was the Marion from a few years ago they're still the fourth best team in the West.
I am not buying in. No defensive presence, tons of players but I doubt chemistry will be there. I give them just as much chance to land the 7th or 8th seed.
On paper they look pretty good. I'm no fan of Marion, but he can be decent if that team runs next season.
They improved, championship level? Doubt it.
Right. Dirk "nerves of steel" Nowitzki![]()
No. No defense, no championship.
That's why some further moves are needed. I'm content with the work Donnie has done this summer and some more significant positive changes are expected. With Marion playing as the starting 3, Josh Howard can be moved to 2 in our starting lineup, then our team will have a very solid and efficient lineup squad also with Dirk and Kidd at 1 and 4. Only the 5 seems a little bit weak with Dampier as the starting guy and only man to fill this spot, Dampier is an above-average center in vision of the whole league but it's inarguable dude is a weak spot compared to the other 4 starting guys. Okafor would be an upgrade over damp even though not very significant, I still think Donnie will have chance to make a decent shot at him when the Hornets relapse with their financial disease, probably Donnie will get this work done by the deadline of next season to fuel our team up for the postseason.
Anyway the Mavs won't be a dark horse next season, as the boys in blue are generally expected to be a top 3 team at least in the west and they are very likely to fulfill our expectations. while the Rockets will definitely be considered dark horse only if they don't finished at the bottom seat when the season ends.
I have to admit the Mavs are not an almost guaranteed team for championship like the Lakers, but the Lakers dynasty may very probably be conspired by teams like Spurs, Cavs, Magic, the Celtics in green and the Boys in Blue.
The trading window will remain open till late in feburary, which means Donnie can make some further upgrades at any time before the deadline, especially when the purse-tightened teams like Hornets are working asses off dumping salaries during the last several days before the window closes. I guess Okafor will get traded around that era alongside some garbage fillers to Dallas for Damp, unless Damp happens to make the allstar game next season and extends his outrageous contract to 10-11 season.
Sure the Mavs can be dangerous if they add a couple pieces, AND play some good D this year.. however... we'll see
Lakers dynasty?! whoa, IF they can beat a healthy west this year and win it all again, then MAYBE you can talk dynasty.. dynasties are earned not given out ahead of time..
right now, i think the Celtics are the favorites to win it all.
Lakers still don't play defense for crap.
its ironic that Laker fans are talking about the Mavs defense, when the Lakers are one of the tiest defensive teams in the league. if they met a healthy Celtics again in the finals, the Celtics would kick the out of them.
I'll jump, the Spurs actually had the one player who wanted to be a Net, so have to root for his team
LA had one of the top 5 defensives in the league last year.
- 2nd in point differential
- 6th in opp FG%
- 3rd in opp 3PT%
- 4th in opp TOs.
- 10th in blocked shots
- 2nd in steals
- 3rd in TO differential.
Only measure you can say LA's defense was average is opp PPG (13th) but that has a lot to do with the tempo LA plays at and the number of shots both teams get (LA 3rd in PPG). LA also was the top rebounding team in the league.
Hope and pray all you want LA doesn't play D but it just ain't so.

the Mavs fanbase doesn't have any room for a like you basketballtart25, though the Lakers fanbase will keep their door wide open for anyone willing to jump onto their bandwagon. I think you can make a decent shot at the Lakers fanbase, and the Lakers are more like a champion team than the Mavs in terms of our current squads, given the Lakers are very close to re-signing Lamar Odom. Only decent fans are qualified for Mavs bandwagon.
That said, Dallas will be better than last year.
Injuries aside, they are a bad matchup for SA, even healthy. They are too quick - both up front and on the perimeter. SA doesn't have the lockdown D anymore and they can't win a shootout with Dallas.
Flip side Dallas doesn't play physical enough to handle Denver or LA.
And they can't beat LA period. 1-6 over the past 2 seasons vs LA.
Exactly, and the fact that Denver, the most undisciplined team of all, scored at will on Dallas
He doesn't need to. Him being a slasher and getting easy buckets is what that team needs to play their best. And his D will be solid as well.
And Dallas still has one more card to play. If Redd comes back from injury I can see a Josh Howard for Redd swap as Milwaukee tries to save money. Cuban has been after Redd for a long time.
This was commendable troll bait.
