oh you are a bush lover, that explains it all

you know your are one dumb mother er when you have fellow lakerfans calling you out.
Does it bother you? I think it does. Ahhh. Go to North Korea or something. You'll feel better.

Because you have to resort to cuss words to convey your opinion tells me enough. As far as Iron taking a shot at me; No skin off my nose. He's a fellow Laker fan and has a free-pass of sorts but you? You have a avatar of a face I'd love to sink my knuckles into.

    Try again, next time.

the fact that Smith has received 5 additional traffic violations for wreck less driving after he killed his friend and seriously injured two others shows that he doesn't give a damn about the law or respect others. he thinks that since he was born in an upper middle class family, makes millions of dollars in the NBA that the law doesn't apply to him.

I never once said that he should live his life in total remorse because of the car accident. HOWEVER, I did say that actions like this gang sign crap makes him look even worse ... which it does.
I have to agree with you on this one. Some one really close to him already lost their life on his watch yet he still gets wrapped up with the fuzz for similar incidents after the fact. Not cool man.

You said it like nothing good can come from someone that was raised in South Central, East LA, Compton, Watts and many other ghetto's around the world. I guess since I wasn't born in the suburbs I'll just live some criminal life. Pretty sure that's what everyone out here does.
Nah, Bro. Didn't mean it like that. I have cousins that grew up in Boyle Heights and all came out well. You know what I mean.

Nothing against demographics. It's just that growing up in SoCal I saw what thuggery did to many people....They're dead.

son how about you tell all of that crap to the mother of the "friend" of his who was riding with him that he killed in the car accident that was 100% his fault. or tell the two people that he hit who are both still suffering from their injuries to this day ... son you see J.R. Smith seems to think that the law doesn't apply to him ... and his 13+ traffic violations proves that. (5 of those violations came AFTER he killed his friend and injured 2 others)

son this piece of shows absolutely no remorse for anything he has done and stunts like this make it even worse. the dude is a joke to begin with. he was pretty much born with a silver spoon in his mouth, yet he prances around in the NBA acting as if he was raised in the streets of Compton throwing up gang signs.
Son there are a lot of good things that athletes do that go unnoticed. Of course the bad always outweighs the good when your an athlete or a famous figure. Not trying to make excuse for what he did, but clearly it's not entirely his fault that both he and his friend at the time of the accident were not wearing their seat belts, which had they did, might have spared his friends life. However still, that doesn't excuse him from the fact that he ran a stop sign like a re which resulted in all this, but at the same time that does not mean that he has no remorse for what he did either. I mean that was a close friend that he killed in that accident, you don't think he regrets it? As for his friends mom, she sounds very forgiving.

"He respects the Bell family and feels terrible, because this is somebody who was a good friend of his. He knew it was possible jail time. He's 23, a tough kid. He could have had 90, he got 30, and he's going to handle these 30 days and be stronger."

According to Hexstall, Bell's mother, Wanda, considered "J.R. to be like a son" and wrote a letter stating she did not want Smith to go to jail. Bell's family has filed a wrongful death suit against Smith.

"It's not like something like this happens and you just move on," Smith said Tuesday during the hearing. "I can't talk to 'Dre. . . . He's still a part of me."

Smith also apologized directly to Wanda Bell, who then blew him a kiss.
"I told her I wish the shoe was on the other foot," Smith said in court.
Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien declined comment when reached Tuesday night by The Post. The team later sent out a news release.

I don't care Iron how dumb it may seem. The fact of the matter remains and it is still my own personal opinion that I despise all things gangster related or things assocaited with it. Sorry you think it's dumb but that is my own personal belief and stance. T

Can't argue with you really, YOUR COLORS tell me your part of the gang I am in.

BTW, There have been far dumber things typed/posted (not said unless you have vocalization on your p.c.) in here than my alleged comment.

Pop probably would. I have no beef with Pop and actually love the out of him. Damn good coach and damn good person from what I've read and heard.

You on the other hand can probably take a lesson from Pop's book of grace and class and stop being such a, well,.....hater.

Your a Lib. I am a GOP guy. So what?

Lets leave the politics out of this and have dialogue pertaining to the subject at hand.

You know, I'm glad I never really had to deal with gangs where I grew up. There were some local ones in Lynn, MA but my family moved when I was 11 or so to New Hampshire... no gangs there.

    IRA, you're thinking of maybe?

The worst part of Boston is the south side. That's where alot of those gangs come into play. I lived on the north side of Boston... not as bad there. There's a lot of crime, but it's not very organized, afaik. Again, I haven't lived in Mass since I was 11, so things may have changed. (Except the South side... that's gonna be Irish for awhile hehe)

You are way off. Most, if not all the all athletes represent their hood in some way, shape, or fashion. Wearing the colors, the caps, throwing signs, or just hitting each other up. You're taking this way out of context.

Growing up in the worst part of LA, during the worst gang and crack epidemic of all time, you learn to adjust, and adapt to your environment. As a child, the only thing you live for is just to go outside and play with your friends. As you get older, these friends become homies. At some point between 10-13, you make a conscious decision to either play sports, become a book worm, or hustle and bang.

In most cases, if the parent is not in the house to provide, then you're going to hustle and bang. You see the older guys in your hood driving nice cars, getting the pretty women, wearing nice clothes, and flashing lots of dough. Some of these hustlers still played sports, because this is what they loved to do while growing up. If you didn't choose to play sports, you never really lose that friendship with your homie that did play sports.

In most cases, if you're a serious athlete, your coach, or parent will try their best to keep you away from your friends that chose the life of a hustler/gang-banger. But they fail to realize that its not always a bad thing to have homies that gang bang while in high school.

I can remember on more than one occasion catching the bus, or just walking by myself, and a car full of gang-bangers would roll up, and hit you up, (what set you from?) I would always say I didn't bang, but their would be times when that wasn't enough, and you had some knuckle head that was eying your shoes, your jewelry, cap, or he just might want to whoop your ass to show off. It would always start like this; blood, don't I know you from somewhere? If you from a blood hood, your reply would be, yeah, I think I seen you in the streets, you know a name Mookie? Mookie would be that one friend that you grew up with that chose the life of a hustler/gang-banger. And that would be the end of story. If you didn't know someone, or was from a rival hood, you better start running.

Most of the athletes get major love from the gangsters. When you see them, you greet them, (what's happnin blood, or cuz,) and its accepted. If you're not from the hood, then don't act like it, cause it could come back to haunt you in more ways than one.

At some point, guys like JR have to understand that you can not take the hood into Corporate America, whether it be to play college ball, or pro ball. If you choose to go back to the hood, then it should only be to change it, or improve it. You hear about so many athletes getting robbed, shot at, or even killed because they still hang out in the hood, or they choose to surround themselves with friends that still hang in the hood. At some point, you have to make a choice.
    Excellent post.

You gave everyone in here a glimpse of what happens in the real world of gang-life and what it means.
