Without knowing much about the new coach's background, I can say with an unbiased opinion that he's weak. I don't buy into the whole youth movement when it gets you a coach that looks like he could barely command respect from a college team.

That said, Wade Phillips would fix this before it even started. BOOYA!

    McDaniels was an awful O-coordinator?

What does it take to a good one then?

Or even average at that rate?
Are you telling me that there is a human out there who could have a lineup of Tom Brady/Randy Moss/Wes Welker/Donte Stallworth/Excellent O-Line and put out something sub-par?

I'm telling you right now, Josh McDaniels did a piss-poor job with that team and it was the sheer greatness of Brady/Moss that made them the record setting 14 pts in the Super Bowl team they were.

LOL before McDaniels was hired I'm sure you had this same opinion. I'm sure it wasn't "those overrated piece of Patriots got exposed for the overrated pieces of they are". And "smart running" is just about the last thing I'd ever ascribe Josh McDaniels.
I've never been a Pats fan, but I give credit where credit is due. 50 TD passes don't happen by accident.

By smart running, I mean getting efficient play out of 4 strings of RBs. When one would go out, the run game didn't take a hit because they were all proficient and capable enough to run the offense. He may have seemed a bit too pass happy, but their running game flies under the radar when talking about the offense. They were 13th in rushing in 07, 6th last year.

Fair enough, but I'm telling you right now, Josh McDaniels is going to be a colossal failure in Denver.

Garrett couldn't have done with those players what McDaniels did that year. Garrett would have his pants in 2008 when Brady went down and he was left with Matt "Haven't started a game since high school" Cassell.

I'm going to give the guy a chance. Shanahan was a tired act by the end of his tenure. That, and he was dead-set in bringing back that got Bob Slowick to run that abortion he called a defense. Add to the fact that Shanahan couldn't pick out a defensive player to save his life and I'm alright with his dismissal. If McDaniels s the bed in his first couple seasons, then I'll be fair and agree that he be shipped out. But, until then, I think he's busting his ass to put out a good product and I understand that they're in the vaunted "rebuilding" process.

Damn, I should hang out on the NFL boards more often. I can talk NFL more than the NBA/Mavs/Spurs anyday. I love this game!

No, but i'm saying not many coordinators would be able to conduct a record breaking season like he did with that team.

And then the next year you insert a guy who's never started an NFL game in his life and they go on to a have a top 5 offense.

And you're still gonna say he's an awful coordinator?

As a Bronco fan I thank you. This man has singlehandedly sunk us with his arrogant approach to our top players.

I'm not saying he's totally responsible for Marshall (let's face it, he is an ass all by himself), but when you trade away the closest person to him on the team (who was a little , but also happened to be a franchise QB.), shoot his trade request down, and tell him he's not getting a raise, (which he actually deserves) you can't be to surprised that he's not going to be excited about playing for you.

If he doesn't have run-ins with the police 13 times in 3 years and doesn't make an ass out of himself, he'd have been paid already. Denver should have no issue with paying Marshall, but they also know they're 1 incident away from him serving an 8-game suspension. The front office was taking a stance of "play out your contract, keep your nose clean and you'll see your money". Why was it so hard for Marshall to follow this? Boldin is in the same situation in Arizona, but isn't being a . He knows he'll get his money. Marshall, though, is slowly ing himself.

You need to keep an open mind with McDaniels. He's not a bad coach and will surprise a lot of people. But understand he's trying to build up both sides of the ball, incorporate a number of new ideas and philosophies and clean up some of the mess (read - coddled, players) Shanahan left behind. The sky isn't falling in Denver, contrary to what some may think. They'll be alright.

ENGLEWOOD, CO—First-year coach Josh McDaniels took some time out from training camp to familiarize himself with the Broncos' compe ion Tuesday, spending the afternoon on the league's official website to see what other teams were members of the National Football League. "There are way more than I thought there'd be," said McDaniels, who was "shocked" to learn that franchises calling themselves the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and San Diego Chargers were not only in the NFL, but were actually in the same "division" as the Broncos. "I'd heard of the Steelers, obviously, but other than that, I thought it was just us and the Chiefs. Ooh, here's one called 'the ans!'" When informed that there was an entirely separate conference called the NFC, McDaniels told reporters in the room to "get out of town."

A ing pine tree could have been the offensive coordinator of the 07 Patriots and still put up record breaking numbers. On top of that, a pine tree wouldn't have thrown a hissy fit at Brady & Moss during halftime of the Super Bowl, refusing to adjust the gameplan in the Super Bowl that scored all of 14 points.

And then the next year you insert a guy who's never started an NFL game in his life and they go on to a have a top 5 offense.
    That missed the playoffs.

And you're still gonna say he's an awful coordinator?
You're damn right I am. I saw every game he was the offensive coordinator, I saw every record breaking offensive moment, I saw every moment of the Matt Cassel year, and I'm here to tell you that Josh McDaniels is still a ty coordinator.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

If you're just gonna sit there and say "I watched the games I think he's a ty coordinator" there's nothing i can say to persuade you.
