HUH???
If you mean GSP he would Johnson up like crazy..
he would lay hands on your homeboy..
One thought i have on this is that we have to remember that the judges are not listening to any of the commentary during the fight. This has happened in boxing before. The De la Hoya vs Mosley rematch in 2003, is a perfect example. I saw that fight live on PPV and agreed with the commentators that Oscar won the fight. Therefore most that saw it on TV agreed Oscar had won.. However many sitting ringside that night, agreed with the Judges scoring and gave it to Mosely. Rogan and Goldberg sided with Shogun for much of the fight, but as i said in the thread, the first 3 rds were pretty close and they are not listening to anything, just watching. So we get a controversial decision..
Bring on the rematch i say....
Hard to do that when you are on your back eating elbows and fists, he is not ready for GSP.. he's not ready for Fitch...
This dude has fought nothing but cans..
I missed all the fights because I did a zombie pub-crawl in Denver tonight. Sounds like I missed some controversy.
Oh yes...
GSP would eat him alive on the ground, but people dont realize how good of a wrestler johnson is. He would probably do better on the feet than alves did imo. i still need to see fitch put on that career defining moment. imo hes still done about as much in his career as swick.
You're more drunk than you realize..![]()
was any body else impressed by sonnen? He could be a very good gatekeeper but thats about the ceiling on him.
johnson would piece up alves
Sherdog Scoring..
Round 1

Machida lands a hard knee to the body and Shogun dives in for a takedown. Machida easily defends and then slips away from a Rua head-kick attempt. This fight provides an interesting visual: Machida with his traditional karate stance, and Shogun with a rigid Thai stance. Shogun lands a hard low kick and Machida answers with a kick to the body. The first round is an interesting and close chess match.

Machida draws Shogun in and unloads with a right hand. Rua drops levels for a takedown and Machida stops it. Shogun lands two hard low kicks and a crushing kick to the ribs. It appears as Machida has been out scouted in this bout, as Rua is having his way with Machida with low kicks whenever the champion raises his leg to attack. Machida and Shogun exchange and Shogun gets the better of it with a hard-counter right. Machida landed a knee to the gut to start the trade, but was hurt by Rua’s right.

Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Machida
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua
Round 4

Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rua (50-45 Rua)
Come on dude he hasn't fought anybody yet...
It's not like he beat up Koscheck tonight..
Koscheck is a punk ass too. go through his fights.. he has never beat a top 10 WW unless you consider Diego top 10 at UFC 69. and Diego is LW anyways..
Kos destroyed the same fighter that Johnson did 2night in the same fashion and Johnson has fought nobody, so i don't see the relevance..
Tell me Johnson has faught cans.. So has Kos, he has just fought more of them. whevener he has fought top 15 WWs he has lost every time. And Paulo Thiago... come on.
He has to fight an Alves, a Fitch, a Kos to be credible, he has not done that yet. Are you saying he deserves a le shot here? Johnson hasn't even fought someone like Swick yet. GSP is the best 170 of all time and that 's not even close.. This guy has to prove himself, first before he gets a crack..
Johnson gets smoked so bad right now. Everyone said Alves is a wrecking machine who will test GSP and he got beat the up for 5 rds like a rookie.. What does Johnson have for GSP??
Swick has a better resume than Fitch. Who has fitch beat besides alves in 2006 and a split over diego.. none of these guys are worthy to face GSP. no ways johnson gets run through any worse than fitch and alves did.
jake shields is the only one who is a legitimate number 2. everyone is a fake. might as well see what johnson can do in there. we know what the other guys cant do..
Machida was so confident, well maybe even y when he was talking before the fight.
In the fight really, there was nothing that Machida had on Shogun. Shogun was patient as never and had great gameplan. He knew whee he can find openings and he demonstrate it on Dragon.
Vicious kicks to mid section whenever machida wanted to attack.
Then Shougun absolutely taken machidas legs out of the fight. Lyoto tried lso knees where shogun was succesfull with clinch, and in a clinch he was destrying machidas legs or made a break the clinch with elbow. If he could finish one takedown and test machida on the ground ...
When Bruce was reading the decission I was like what? Every judge gave a win only by one point to Shogun?! WTF. But when he said Lyotooooo ...
I could not belive. that was wrong.
Mazzagatti - there was always a case that he stops he fights too late. So he decided to put one early stoppeage into his resume.
Cain is great and technical, but I don't know if he could beat Carwin with carwins wrestling.
btw. machida did not said he thinks he won the fight but that judges scored like this.![]()
From Kevin Iole...who has a point.
***************************************
The men who should be facing the wrath of those who felt Rua had won should not be Hamilton, Peoples and Rosales, who rendered their opinions in a very technical, taut affair. Rather, Rua supporters should be angry at his corner men, who continually told him he was well ahead.
Rua said he didn't press the action in the final two rounds because his corner had told him he was in control. If that's true, it's that advice that cost him the fight. And it's always the worst kind of advice to give a fighter in any match, but particularly a technical fight like Machida-Rua.
And while many disagree with the judges, their decision is at least defensible. ...
This was a fight that was there for Rua to win and he simply didn't win it. Had the decision gone Rua's way, Machida couldn't have complained, because there was little to choose from in many of the rounds. It was a very close fight and a case could be made for either man in most of the rounds.
