He is healthy, but the Rockets are taking it slow for 2 reasons.

    1. To make danged sure he is ready to go.

    2. To establish an iden y without him.

Number 1 is easy to figure...they should be cautious because if they want to keep him or trade him they need him healthy.

But 2 is more interesting, the Rockets know McGrady wants to dominate the ball, that is his playing style, and they also know he is not good enough or consistent enough doing that to really succeed in the playoffs. So they want to get a good style of play established to when he comes back, he has to fit in, rather than play the style he is comfortable with....

I am convinced in a contract year, when Tmac will need his touches to show what he can do, that the Rockets will trade him......if he conformed to their style the team would be better off, but after 11 years and him having individual success playing his way, I just think it won't happen.

And the Rockets can not take the ball away from Aaron Brooks he is just too good, and they need him to develop.

The 13 points in 45 seconds was, maybe, the most rediculous thing I have ever seen. I really hope he come back like he said. Time for Houston to have some good things happen for them.

The fact that he was guarded so well by Bowen made it that much more impressive.

That truly was amazing. I'll never forget that either. Good Luck to him. A lot of crap has been said about him-some deserved some undeserved. But I wish the guy the best.

I agree with your first reason, but your second is only a half truth. He has conformed to that style of play before which is why we had a 22 game win streak a couple of years ago. If you don't like him that's fine, but don't say it's better for the team to trade him based on your feelings. If he comes back healthy and playing team ball this club goes from a fringe playoff team to a fourth or fifth seed. A cooperative McGrady at a substantial discount is better than anything we could get in a trade for what he brings. To try and argue otherwise is illogical and foolish.

Actually he conformed for a while but slowly went back to the old way of playing....and another issue is his contract, if the Rockets let him just play it out without trading him, they lose him as an asset for nothing.

    I think he is toast...and yes...I don't like him.

I just don't see anyone trying to give us anything we would actually want (young up and coming talent) for his contract. They are going to try and pass off garbage which Morey is to smart to accept. I also think he will be a Rocket next year if we can cut his salary down to about 10 million a year (which I'm sure will be the case, because nobody is going to overpay him with his injury record).

He's this decade's grant hill. His potential was off the charts. I thought he'd be better than Kobe by now if you would have asked me back in his early years. Sadly, he is finished. I'll believe he's back when I see it.

Why would we pay him $10 million, he is at most an MLE player with his injury history, and even that is up in the air depending on how he does on an NBA court.

His injury history, the fact that he has 11 years of playing in the NBA on bad wheels and back, just makes it too risky, let some other sucker get pulled in by his talent and promise.

He had his time in Houston, it is time for him to move on.....

And, teams that are cash strapped in this economy will be looking to shed long term contracts for expirings.

Wouldn't you like to get Monta Ellis if you also had to take Biedrens or Maggette as a poison pill?

I think those are the kinds of deals you will get for Tmac.....

No, I would rather have T-mac on a three year contract for about 8 million a year, with the third year being a team option. Monta Ellis's contract alone would deter me, and that's without factoring in his selfish at ude. He would also be a downgrade from a relatively healthy Tracy (as long as he keeps going to Tim Grover ).

Fair enough, that was just an example, there will be deals out there that make the Rockets better.

See, the one factor most people are not considering is that if the team does not trade him, he can simply walk away, and the Rockets get nothing for him as an asset.

The Rockets hold all the power right now, but the minute his contract expires, TMac holds all the cards.

Trade him while you can get something for him, or watch him bolt and get nothing back.
