Actually, Cook gets a bad rap because he's not funny.
dane cook was like the justin timberlake of comedians
even people who never listened to comedians in their lives knew about him because of pop culture labeling him as the "new" comedy.
he sucks...alright well he has a couple of funny jokes but his status is blown way out of proportion.
I like Dunham and Ced...and the OLD Dane Cook was funny..new Dane Cook is ing stupid.
Dane Cook is the 'hip' comedian right now. Has a few funny bits and I really enjoyed his first Comedy Central 30-minute spot, but he definitely doesn't come close to my comedic holy grail.
Carlin, Hicks, Pryor, Hedberg among others.....sadly, none of them are around any longer.
have to disagree, the last think im going to is defend DANE COOK. but if they guy wore regular jeans and a polo shirt or a suit, had a crew cut and he just stood still/acted normal on stage, he would be viewed very differently. all his bull just gives off the, im a giant chode and i like kanye west, MMA and the dallas cowboys type vibe
he does have too many sound effect/mic fart jokes, talk like a chick jokes, and "when youre ing your chick" jokes- not funny

Larry The Cable Guy is the absolute worst. But what's great about Larry The Cable Guy is how rednecks love him, not realizing that his whole act is fake and he's a Yankee from Nebraska making fun of Southerners.
Well..he's not exactly making fun of them...he's changed his persona a couple of times...the redneck persona worked, so he went with it.
I saw Robin Williams in Austin right before his heart issues earlier this year and it was one of the best events I've ever been to - sports, music, comedy, whatever... it was incredible.
That said, I know he's not a typical comedian but Craig Ferguson is one of the few people on tv that consistently delivers no matter what.

Not only is Dane Cook unfunny, the guy steals Louis CKs jokes and makes them unfunny. It takes a certain level of to take good material and make it annoying.
