That was nowhere close to playing up to par.
Let's see where to start.
10 missed free throws
2-16 from long range
18 turnovers
Shall I go on?
neither was the Celtics

Well it was a uva lot better effort than the spurs LOL.
Celtics had their problems also.
Pierce had an off game, Allen too. Pretty much everyone else played mediocre except for KG/Rondo/Sphinx
Your insinuating that each played equally below par. Which isn't the case at all. The spurs can play much better and the celtics could probably be somewhat better.
It wasn't the Celtics best game by a long shot either. Most people get it wrong - playing your best isn't playing flawlessly, because nobody is perfect. Right now the Spurs' best level of play is still sloppy and inconsistent. The Celtics are the better team right now because they can perform more consistently at a level higher than the Spurs can. Hopefully that will change for the better but this game showed that there is a long ways to go.
That's the whole point. The Spurs aren't yet ready to compete at the same level the Celtics are. You're overestimating the Spurs performance so far this season. They haven't shown yet they can rise to the level of the Celts
I'm talking about how much better the spurs can (and will) play in time ...not about present performance. I'm using this game as a gauge in that respect.
And once that happens, a typical spurs average night should be enough to beat the celtics' typical average night.
This could take time though.
Well have the celtics been enduring nagging injuries all year long like the spurs? No.
Then you got the fact that Pop is notoriously slow at figuring out good lineups to use. McDyess and Bogans catapaulted into the starting lineups just a few games ago. More changes possibly to come.
The Celtics weren't even trying that hard.
Answer is DeJuan Blair.
Who .. exactly do you think was slacking for the C's? It looked to me like they were fired up and taking this game very seriously.
When KG goes all out for an alley oop dunk and hits the floor hard, jumps up and makes derogatory comments and beats his chest a hundred times that to me signifies he is trying fairly hard...
That's just KG being a nozzle.
The thumping chest part I agree. The part before that, not so much.
Duncan can match up with Gasol...Blair can match up with Bynum...period.
Do you have any idea how dumb this sounds?
You don't know how the Spurs will play in the future. You think you know.
I do know how they're playing right now. And it's worse than the Celtics are playing. Not hard to figure out.
Because they arent flawless either. That game was 4 missed ft's away from being tied at multiple points.
We had 7 more TOs and missed 10 FTs out of 17 so if you think about it, we have 4 less TOs and make 7 more FTs, this game is ours.
Yeps, I was going to write this.
I think both teams played with similar levels of effort. I also think that right now the Celtics are a better team than the Spurs (and matchup will them), but not by a lot.
Yeah, that loss doesn't worry me at all. They were pretty good and we were pretty horrible, and we have a looooooong way to grow.
If the spurs can get past a healthy laker team then Boston, if they even make it, won't be any problem.
The Spurs have never lost an NBA finals and they never will.
