The FO bet on the wrong horse. The spurs should have made a different trade than the one for RJ. The sad thing is their losing a lot of ground. Their losing home games that they need to win. The spurs have not fared well on the road to say the least.
Eh, I don't feel for either of them. Timmy D has his championships and millions, and Holt has no doubt gotten a huge return on investment from all the years of contending. Ignoring Scola, bigs are also really hard to come by, as evidenced by the fact that mediocre guys make the top 10 active center lists.
Probably feel most sorry for Manu as you can see his frustration as he plays and gets injured. But he has his accolades too.
Who else was available? Vince Carter brought in expirings and Courtney Lee. The Spurs were not going to match that because our expirings are actually productive. Shaq was going to be available for a huge expiring but we don't have the pieces. Jefferson was a deal that had to be made due to a lack of time because of the contract situation of Bowen and Oberto.
I feel sorry for everyone that isn't satisfied with the 4 championships they have won in the past 11 years and doesn't realize how lucky and fortunate the Spurs were. It was always going to end some time, we got about as much as any fans of any teams outside of those built around Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell.

All that said, I don't for sure yet that the Spurs are totally done, most likely yeah, it's over, however Spurs signings who were primarily offensive players are notorious for struggling offensively in their first year here when adjusting to the Spurs densive focus and feeling comfortable shooting the ball on a team with Parker, Manu and Duncan, and that could very well be the problem with Dice and Jefferson. And Scola and Splitter would be no different.
As for Manu, I don't really think Manu is frail or fragile...the guy played an insanely physical style and there was a period of about 4 years where Manu did nothing but play basketball for the entire year. Those two things are why he is in the condition he is now. I mean I could tell you Manu wasn't going to have a long career the first time I saw him play...I forget who said it...I think it was Kenny Smith who said, Manu is going ot be one of those guys that will barely be able to walk by the time he is 50 because of the way he played. If he'd played any other way, he wouldn't have been Manu,. So thanks also Manu
I also think he will adjust after going through these injuries, he is not ever going to be the Manu he once was for an entire season again though...but you might get it from him for a few games, and eventually you'll only get it for parts of games...hopefully they'll be the right ones.

Last night in 23 minutes he had 6 boards, 1 block, 1 steal, and ZERO turnovers. He missed all 3 of his shots however, but otherwise he did contribute.

The franchise does owe something to the fans. Winning les previously has nothing to do with it. What they owe the fans each and every single year is doing their best to field a team that can compete. They must be trying to win.
The Spurs FO is doing that. The les mean nothing, because no one can win every single year in any sport. Even though the Spurs won't likely win a le this year, that does not mean the organization is not doing right by the fans.
tim duncan needs to right this ship. parker isn't the leader of this team, duncan is. this team is talented enough to be among the elite teams but it's currently lacking leadership. the burden of carrying the spurs falls on duncan once again.
Duncan is doing everything he can. It's hard, because he is not what he was 4 or 5 years ago but this is not new territory for the Spurs. They have had lots of turnover and needed time to adjust in the past, there is no need to panic..
Tim Duncan is no doubt, the greatest player that this franchise has ever had. With so much mileage on his legs, he's still dominating against bigs who are supposed to be in their prime.
